I too have been in search of an inexpensive way to mount some Daylighters for our 1st Gens that wouldn’t look like cr**. And I didn’t want to drill holes in my bumper. After searching the web and the local junkyards, all I could come up with was a new Smitty built Bumper Thumper. It would definitely do the job and they look pretty cool, but even those ran over a $180. So I thought I would try fabing something up and this is what I came up with. I got a piece of aluminum strip, 1. 5” wide and 3’ long ($6) from Home Depot. Cut the strip in half and bent them using a vise and my hands. Had them Line-Xed ($20). Drilled two holes a piece and I was done. No damage to bumper. Wired the lights to an oldschool NAPA supplied chrysler foot dimmer switch for $8 and then there was light. Out the door for $34 and a couple hours of trial and error. I need the opinion of some 1st Geners. Do they look alright, or should I take them off ASAP? Couple other pics in my gallery. All criticism welcome.
