inexpensive shipping company for tires/wheels?

when I order my BFG's from Les Schwab the tires were shipped via UPS for $7 a pop. check out www.etires.com for their shipping rates.

Are you talking about sending tires/wheels you,ve already bought or want to buy? If its tires you want to buy then I use Tires International in Nevada,no sales tax ,& $40 delivery charge wether its 1 tire or a truck load,but thats to Sac of course & I dont know about wheels. you could stack and strap all 4 onto a pallet and via any trucking company. Should be alot less than 2 bills.

You might want to give some freight companies a call to get some quotes. However, I think most of them have a minimum of $125 or more. Companies like Roadway, Central Freight, American Freightways, Yellow Freight are what I have in mind.

You're a civil engineering. You might check with the shipping department for who you work or a trusted supplier and see if you can get a discount from an LTL (Less Than Truckload) Freight Company (Yellow, Conway, Etc. )
I know that the company I work for gets a huge discount on freight that we pass through to our clients.

Check that the UPS Ground and FedEx Ground service is giving you the 100 Wt. Pricing.
It should be that much (200) as we can ship a drum of oil for about 70 Dollars and it weighs about the same 440 lbs and stacked on a pallet, the tires would take up about the same space.

I was looking at some Steel wheels on this list for when I put the snow tires on, I also found the shipping cost exceded what I thought just the rims were worth.

The best price I found was UPS and like you saw, it was very high.

I also tried places like Yellow and found them to be expensive.

Now when you buy from a big tire supplier you will see them pay lower prices, because they sign a deal with the shipper to send all there stuff through them, and they ship alot of tires.

I shipped tires and wheels that were mounted from NC to NY with UPS. Each tire and wheel was sent as a single unit, I think it cost me $20. 00 bucks or so to get it done.

I didn't even wash the mud off of them before they were shipped... ... Pete

I am going thru this process now.

I bought a set of 4 Michelin 245/75/16's mounted on '99 factory Dodge Chrome Steel wheels with 4000 miles on them in an add I saw at Carl's. Each tire/wheel combo weighs 78 lbs. Too heavy for the postal service, Their limit is 75 lbs. I think he tired Fed-ex and UPS. UPS has the best price of about $180. 00 for 4 tire/wheels from Oklahoma to Connecticut.

The seller tired a common carrier and other delivery companies. UPS looks like the cheapest.

Hey guys; What about finding a traveling TDR member who's going from your area to where you want them delivered? Seems like with all these drivers, you could find somebody who'd be willing to at least deliver them to a location for not too much. Just an idea. Steve

ups is the company giving me the $400 price tag. i hate to bite the bullet on this.

rickson pays $180 coast to coast. i don't expect to pay that little as they ship all the time, but darn!!
