BDDL run time issue

Who makes a inexpensive obd2 scan tool that can erase codes as well? Inovationhouse makes a set up for a lap top that also calculated hp and torque, but I really don't want to have to have my lap top in the truck.

Is it better to just get a bddl for $350 and use their set up?

Get the triple dog if you're not worried about warranty.

It makes the truck (at least mine) run smoother, and I picked up 1mpg hand calc. on the highway. The truck just seems "happier" and is much easier to drive. No more matting the pedal and waiting for spooling.

At what level does the bddl provide pressure increase?

Can I stack with the edge?

Maybe it will wake up my sps 66 with a little more pressure downstairs?

The BDDL will provide pressure on Extreme, and for your truck you can get the Crazy Larry program.

Many have had success with the BDDL, EZ, and TST stacked. I'm sure you can just do the first two if that's what you've got.

Fom another thread on this forum:

Well I recently added my EZ to my TST(w/twins) and Triple Dog stack. So far the results are very good. The EZ brings the low end back. Lites the SPS66 so much quicker, even just normal daily driving. I can not believe how much better it feels with the EZ on level 1. TST 7/7, BDDL Performance program and EZ level 2 is the best combo I have found so far for the track. I really dont like a triple stack, but I also can not ignore the results. Added about 25rwhp and removed a tenth at the track.

$40 at Harbor Freight if you catch it on sale. It does everything you asked for. Reads codes, and clears them. Quick and dirty, no frills.

I saw that on the web, but are you sure it actually erases the codes? It looks like it only reads them.

YEP, on edit, I downloaded the user manual, says it erases them too. GREAT, I'll order one TODAY!

Good deal. I'm happy with mine.

I would be interested also. I have an inexpensive Innova 3100( around $99 I think), that I have had for a few years. It will read and clear any Generic OBDII codes, but not see or clear any DC specific codes. I suspect that will be the case with most of the inexpensive scanners.

I also have been considering the CANOBD2 by Innova, but it is just a little past the inexpensive mark.

The one I got from Harbor Freight is a piece of crap. Creader.

Doesn't erase anything. Ended up at Auto Zone and got the Actron unit. Works flawlessly, paid $100 for it.

I recently bought an Actron CP9145 to use on our vehicles - cost $200, and is pretty well equipped for all tests, code readings and erasing I can imagine for my use - they also sell other models at lower and higher cost depending on capabilities - one pretty nice model sells for just under $100

www.actron.com

Also, for those interested in Marco's new Smarty, it includes some code reading and clearing abilities as well, and might be a good choice where you sorta get 2 nice gadgets for the price of one...

Gary,

Where did you get your CP9145 for that price?

Ebay - haven't checked for recent Ebay pricing - might be worth a search...

BY the way, only a short test with mine so far, found and cleared several codes, a VERY nice and easy to use tool. You can actually download the operating manual from their website and get a good idea of it's capabilities.

OK - a quick search on Ebay turned up a half dozen or so Actron tools, new ones at $200 - and including this used one currently at $152:

Ebay item # 4607812971

I'm completely satisfied with mine.

I bought an Actron 9135, retail box for $99 from an Ebay dealer. It reads and clears basic OBDII codes and is remedially easy to use. Maybe when I get my Smarty, I'll put the scanner up for sale :)
