Infinity Speaker TSB

I removed the radio and was looking at the connectors to #7 and #8 ports, they are backwards like the TSB says. Step 3 on the dodgeram. info site says "remove the wires from the insulator using the appropriate terminal remover" What in the world is the appropriate terminal remover?????? I looked at the connections and cant seem to get them out, does anyone know how without using the "appropriate terminal remover"

Here at work we have a pin-terminal removal tool to take automotive type pins out of a connector. It looks like a screwdriver handle, with a hollow shaft, slotted on one side. If you've seen one of the pins, they have little "ears" that spring out and lock the pin in place. The removal tool just holds these ears down allowing the pin to be pulled back out. Maybe this is what they mean... --Eric

After looking around at various auto parts shops and Sears, I couldn't find the "appropriate" terminal removal tool. I got some pretty weird faces when I asked for the tool, some thought I was retarded or something... so i finally cut the two wires in half and spliced them back together. Should have done that from the beginning, only took 5 min. Well worth the time, the sound in SO much better than before. Originally I couldn't move the base level higher than half way, now its all the way up and the mirrors shake. If your thinking about doing it, just cut the wires and splice back together, you wont regret it!

Look at the 'bag hook' on the passenger side under the radio. There is a single screw in there. take out the screw and the whole center of the dash panel comes off allowing access tot he 4 screws that hold the radio in.

Its really easy to fix the problem, just like mentioned above. Remove the one screw behind the hook towards the bottom right side of the center area. Now remove the front panel, don't worry you wont break it but it feels like you will when prying on it. The panel is held on by several clips that pop out, I think its easiest to pull on the hook where you removed the screw to get it started. Once removed, disconnect all electrical connections to the back of the panel and set aside. Now remove the 4 screws holding the radio, once out disconnect the antenna wire and the white electrical connector (the one to be worked on). Now check the wires, there is a nice picture of the connector on the dodge.com TSB page. The gray wire should be in the #7 hole and the gray/brown tracer should be in the #8 slot. If they're not fix them. If your going the route it did, cut and splice, cut the black tape surrounding the wires and pull it back to provide room. Now just cut the two wires, switch them, and splice back together. Now enjoy!!

You might want to look under the 05 TSB pages or pull the radio out and check the wires in #7 & #8 holes.

I was wondering the same thing. I have an 05 Infinity manufactured 10/04 so took a look and noted that the wire colors given in the TSB are not used on that 22 pin gray connector on mine. In addition cavity #8 & #7 are empty.



I could see if they changed colors of wires but if these are speaker wires I don't understand why those cavities would be empty when all of these style 22 pin radios interchange with other years and even models of DC products.

I have them for 03, 04 & 05.

The 04 Infinity C1 connector does show the TSB's wire colors listed in the #7 & #8 cavity and on the wire diagram they are in the incorrect location.



The 05 C1 connector pinouts are only given for the base model for some reason.



Still... its pretty weird my C1 connector on the truck has those cavities unused, makes no difference which way I hold the connector and its clearly marked 1-11 and 12-22. If the 05's speaker outputs are on a different pin then it stands to reason an 05 Radio would not work in an earlier model.

if this is the TSB I am thinking of, it will only make your stereo sound better if it is wired up incorrectly to begin with. I think they switched polarity on speaker wires, and that is REALLY bad for your speakers. instead of pulling the voice coil in, it pushes it out

You wont find #7 & #8 labeled on the connector specifically. If you look at the back of the connector it will have a #1 on one side of the row and #11 on the other side, and the bottom row will have #12 on one side and #22 on the other. Therefore you must find the #1 and count over to the #7 & #8 holes or start at #11 and count back. The numbers are really small, but are on the sides of the connector.

I fixed this on my truck. What a difference in sound. I checked the back of the radio to see it was wrong and made the switch at the speaker because it was easier to switch the wires there. pin out 7&8 go to the right front on my truck.
