Does anyone know the size of the Infinity Speakers, which fit into the provisions in the dash? Is the dash prewired for the speakers?

Where in the dash do the stock Infinities go, underneath or something?? I was wondering how they get 7 Infinities as compared to the lower end 4 speakers. Do the "tweeters" in the door panel near the mirrors counts as 2 in the 7 count??

There is one on each A pillar and the seventh is in the center of the dash, near the windshield. Oh and the other four are in the doors.

GR8 input folks! Thanks very much. Does anyone know the screw pattern for the 3 in the dash, and if the dash is prewired... ... ... . for those of us who bought CTDs with the standard 4 speaker arrangment? Finding the door speakers is a snap, but I want to be sure I get the CORRECT dash speakers, but I'm NOT going to do it unless the dash is prewired. Thanks

 Bagger, we are kind of in the same boat, except that you already have the hot rod!! I had my buddy in the parts dept look up what we would need to convert the standard 4 speaker, with cheap CD radio over to the 6 Disc Infinity setup. The 4 "door Infinities" retail for around $105 each, the 6 Disc unit retails for $760, but I saw it somewheres for around $575. To get the Audio controls on the steering wheel (which is an absolute must to me, I have them on the Dakota now), you have to change the wheel for $170 and add a wiring harness (info is sketchy here) for $240. I had him look up the Auto Dim rear view mirror (again, on the Dakota, hard to live without), it goes for $140 and the wiring $20.

I did this homework, so that if I make the move on the truck I have in mind, I'll try to get them to sell me those components at their cost and roll it into the financed deal. Probably their cost is around $800 - $1000, which isn't bad, considering that is $1200 of options right there from the factory. Yes, it would be much nicer to have it installed at the factory, but the dealers don't seem to agree when they order these things

For your deal, you might want to look aftermarket for 4 kickin speakers and add an Amp to your standard setup. With me, I couldn't live without the Audio controls and I'm not sure that they would work with the standard CD radio, so it will cost some more.

 My '99 was that way, my '03 has the 5th, 6th and 7th in the dash

Thats the way mine is. All three up in the front of the dash. RR must be remembering jammin' in his 99. Oo.

Question: Save me from tearin' one a part to answer. Do the Infinity speakers still have individual amps mounted to the baskets, or is the amp separate (under the dash, ect)? If the amp is separate, it would sure make changing out speakers and powering em with the oe amps easier. Depending on factory amps output, of course.

Another... HIJACK!! Who makes pre formed sub boxes for the junk compartments under the rear seats? I've seen custom ones, but somebody's gotta have em pre made, yes? For a single 10"? Links?

Amish - MTX makes a "thunderform" composite preformed sub-box that is capable of accommodating dual 10" subs, and can be supplied with a pre-wired MTX amp if desired, and fits neatly under the rear seats. (can be found on eBay, crutchfield, etc... )

IMHO - it is possible to create as good, if not a better listening environment in a 4 speaker truck (compared with the infinity set-up) with some good 3 way 6x9's in the front doors, a good set of 2 way 6. 5's in the rear doors, and amplified sub(s) under the seat. Definitely easier and probably will cost less than than buying Infinity's as well.

Just my opinion however,

- Jason
