I have an 04 Laramie with the supposedly wiz-bang Infinity in dash CD system. It has sounded awful - tinny, no midrange, buzzy bass - since I got the truck. I commented often that the Infinity system in my 95 was better.

Then I listened to the same system (at least I think it is the same) in an 03 Laramie. It sounded (relatively) great. There was plenty of midrange and good bass with the settings in the middle of the range. Mine won't work no matter where the bass and treble adjusters are set.

Is it possible that the amplifier is unplugged or not working in my system (where is it anyway)? That is what it sounds like - no power to move the speakers. Has anyone heard of this problem?

My RAZ (combo CD and cassette) set up sounds awesome!!Oo. I would get your"dealer" to replace it or repair whatever is wrong.

Mine sounded like crap also. took it to the dealer and they said there was a tsb about the speakers not connected correctly. All I can say is when I got it back, my mirrors vibrate. The sound is great! I know they were in the dash as everything in the pocket under the radio was sitting on the seat. Hope this helps.

I am battleing this same issue. My 03 Hemi had the cd/tape combo and sounded WAY better than my 04 6 disc. I went and talked to my buddy in parts, and he told me that there is a differance in 03 and 04 sound system, he didn't know what, but in the parts catalog under stereos it lists them differant. So I went to my best buddy, ripped out his tape/cd combo out of his 03 and swaped it for my 04 6 disc. no change!!! So know I'm thinking it is either amp or speaker differance. I don't dare take mine to the dealer because I get upset when they tell me it's "normal". I hope you get it figured out, and let me know.

I read a post on another forum about sound issues such as yours. He got it fixed with TSB-08-011-04. It is a wireing problem on the plug going into the radio.

Pin 8 should be grey with brown tracer. Pin 7 should be grey wire. Some were reversed changing the polarity to one of the speakers resulting in bad bass and or a buzzing speaker. Hope this helps.

The TSB 08-011-04 was issued on March 16, 2004 for 2004 trucks with the Infinity Speakers. This is fix is for a reversed connections for the Right Front Speaker feed at the radio connector.

I do not know if they changed or not, but the Infinity system has always had individual ampes mounted directly to the speakers in years past.

sfr1047, artie, and klenger know their stock stereo stuff. I couldn't have done mine without their info.

klenger, can you snowshoe in Arizona?

The DR has a separate amplifier behind the glove compartment.

Yes, I can snow shoe in AZ, but the rocks and sand wears all the paint off the metal frames. :) The on-road bicycling is great here, especially in the winter.

Klenger,

What kind of bike do you ride? I'm a roadie, too. I have a Calfee.

To keep this on subject... I'll have to play some music on my RAZ to see if it sounds right. AM talk radio sounds OK.

My road bike is an (1990 10th anniversary) Eddy Merckx / DuraAce. I also have an REI Buzz hybrid for bike paths and riding around the neighborhood.

On topic: I have Sirius Radio too.

Is my service manual wrong? It shows pin 7 GY/BR and pin 8 GY - just the opposite from above. Where can I find the TSB? I need to see what it says before I change anything.
