INFO HELP new injector pump $1700

I just got the news that my pump must come out and be replaced on my '92 . Got a ball park price of $1100 plus about $600 labor for a total of $1700. Anyone with info or recommendations on this procedure? I am in the Reno area.

I don't know about the pump price, but I'll bet part of the labor would be to outsource the pump. I went to the Cummins shop once and the guy told me that they didn't work on pumps. Found out from my step-son that one shop in Roanoke served a large area for pump repair. So if the shop providing the quote isn't a Bosch repair shop, find the one that is and ask their cost.

You probably did. I had a whole career path from typing, so I type faster than I can talk or think. Not always something to be proud of.

The pump is leaking fuel from underneath. My local mechanic told me the pump is worn out as it has 220k miles on it. The truck is a real slug as far as power goes.

Anyway ..... it needs to be removed to fix the (gasket or seal) so it is probably time to replace it..... ????

When I was looking to have mine done, the shop told me that 'book time' on the labor time was 3 hours.

I was told labor time was 5. 5 hours and the pump cost was $1100 !!!!

Why not get a brand NEW (not rebuilt) VE from PDR for about ~1300 or so and be done with it do the labor yourself. why not throw in some pods or 190's as well while you are at it. I may do this as well. Mines creeping up on 200000 miles and I've ran it dry of fuel many times on WOT romps becuase of a weak lift pump

I've started to look on the internet. I see them rebuilt for $695 exchange. It is a Tenn. company.

Anyone had experience purchasing a pump this way????

If you are planning on getting a reman, and doing the labor yourself, give Scheid Diesel a call. 800-669-1593. Last I checked their reman rate was about what you were quoted.
