I want to put the 6.7 air filter assembly on my 2007, 5.9. I have found a complete air cleaner box and hose to the turbo inlet from a 2011, 6.7. Will it directly bolt in?

I had wanted to do the same thing, but then Mopar started selling them newer, thicker air filters for the 5.9 that matched the capabilites of the 6.7 air filter, so I just took the ez route and added a 4" vent hose to the bottom of my filter box and used the thicker filter.

That being said, it CAN be done....Carl48 on cumminsforum has done it and posted pics there...he also has a user name and pics posted here on TDR under CKelley1. DGamelin has also done it--

With the deeper pleat filter avialble for the 5.9 box there is really no reason to go with the 6.7 box anymore. Add a cold air tube or holes to the bottom of the box and the filter minder never moves until it is really plugged.

it bolts up, the 6.7 is a bigger filter than the 5.9 4" filter. you need to cover one port where a sensor on the 6.7 was. add a psm kit or home depot kit, do not cut holes like suggested. did not find pix of one with the 6.7 tube like most of mine are but here is one showing one hooked to a coolhose with a T.A.G. you can see the port that needs covering.

Does the 4th gen filter assembly bolt into a 3rd gen? I assumed it would have to be a matching body style. My 06 still has a crappy exposed filter from the previous owner. I want to put the 6.7 box in, but I assumed I would have to stay in the same body style.

I added the 6.7 air box to my 03. The lid on the box "opens" from the other side, so you need to use box and lid as well as the hose going from the box to the turbo as it is a different size on the upper end. You will also need to plug off a port near the turbo end of the hose which on a 6.7 has a smaller hose going up from there to the valve cover breather. I decide to do this for several reasons. I got the assembly free, I can get the 6.7 filters cheeper than the big 5.9 ones and I have a belt driven air compressor so having the lid "open" on the opposite side was a benefit to me. I plane on adding the cold air intake pipe out the bottom as well. David
