I noticed that on TST's site and was curious about it too. It says you can gain up to 7MPG but is recommended if you tow. Does that mean you might not really gain anything driving empty?

Tst

I don't have this feature but one thing for sure,... TST has a reputation of understating their products. I'd bet it will do exactly what they say and probably more! :D

I'm testing one now on my 2004. 5.

Running empty, without Economax, 19. 83 (8856 miles). Running empty with Economax, 20. 84 (1580 miles).

Towing without Economax, 12. 35 (limited miles, 673 miles). Towing with Economax, 13. 22 (limited miles, 460).

Engine rattles just like the older Cummins, especially from 1700 to 2000 rpms. TST claims this will not harm engine. Sure hope they are correct.

You do notice more power. I still have not given it full throtle, son't want to kill transmission.

rknichols,

I noticed in your signature that your truck is a 2X2? Is the TST box you are beta testing a special version for a 2X2 application?

keep on trucking (?) :-laf

Grieke2002

Can't answer that. I explained what I had to TST and they sent me a unit. Very little info with the unit, other than installation instructions.

Awesome! Death to the pilot injection!!! :D This thing should have the greatest effect on the newest trucks(04. 5+). you know, the ones with 50 injection events

I am gonna see if I can get my dad into one for his 04. 5 dually

I tried it in my 06

installed it drove it about 10 miles engine light came on. took it off went to the dealer said map sensor as fried. Returned unit to TST no problems gave money back.

I wish more smarty user would track mileage. from my reports from the field a good 2-3 mpg in the 60 hp w timing program.

I hooked another guy up today that promises a good report next week

Bob,

As soon as I get over the extra power, I should have some good numbers for you. Been tracking every gallon since I got the truck.

Right now I've gone from 18 to 16. 5, but that's with me trying to see how sideways I can actually get the truck without going all the way around, not to mention the 20+ passes on the dragstrip.

I'm working nights this weekend, so I'm going to try to drive it like I did before the extra 90 ponies.
