I need to remove the overhead console in my 2008 Quad cab. I did several searches in the archives but all I could find were procedures for much older trucks. Nothing useful was found on You-Tube either.
Does anyone here know the proper method for a 2008?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the overhead console retaining screw (2), located in the front of console near the windshield.
3. Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of the overhead console (1) and pull straight down firmly and evenly to disengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit.

Mine doesn't appear to have any retaining screws visible from any angle. But I thank you for the info. I'm wondering if this will require a putty knife pushed in from the side to release a catch of some sort.

There are two basic overhead consoles used in this vehicle, which can be distinguished by the way they are mounted to the retainer bracket above the headliner. The first one (Type 1) is secured by a single visible screw near the forward end of the console housing and snap clips near the rear. The second one (Type 2) has no visible fasteners when installed, but is secured by two screws, one concealed under each of the two map/reading lamp lenses at the rear end of the console housing and a tab above the front of the console.

TYPE 1

4. Lower the overhead console from the headliner far enough to access the wire harness connectors.
5. Disconnect the reading lamp wire harness connector (2).
6. If equipped, disconnect the sunroof switch wire harness connector (1).
7. If equipped, disconnect the Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) or Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) module wire harness connector (3).
8. Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.

TYPE 2

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Using a small thin-bladed screwdriver, gently pry between each side of the lamp lens and the overhead console housing (1) to unsnap the pivot tabs (3) on the lens from the pivots in the lamp housing.
3. With the lens disengaged from both pivots, pull the front of the lens forward far enough to disengage the tab (2) on the rear edge of the lens from the slot in the rear of the overhead console lamp housing.
4. Remove the lens from the housing.
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the second lens.

6. Remove the two screws (1) within the overhead console (1) lamp housings.
7. Slide the console rearward far enough to disengage the tab above the front of the console from the bracket above the headliner.
8. Lower the overhead console from the headliner far enough to access the wire harness connectors.
9. Disconnect the reading lamp wire harness connector.
10. If equipped, disconnect the sunroof switch wire harness connector.
11. If equipped, disconnect the Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) or Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) module wire harness connector.
12. Remove the overhead console from the vehicle.
