Information from VIN?

Since so many of the dealer listings I'm looking at don't tell diddly-squat about the truck, but DO provide the VIN, I'd like to know which digits designate what.



I know that position 1 indicates country of origin, but that's it. (1 US, 3 Mex)



Does the VIN indicate engine/transmission/2 or 4WD? If so please fill me in.



This will keep me from having to call every one of the dealer listings where they list "power steering, power brakes, tinted windows"--useless crap and no real information.



Thanks, and yes I will be purchasing the factory manual set and Cummins manuals--when I get a truck.

VIN indicates Country, Make, Vehicle Type, Gross Vehicle Weight, Vehicle Line, Series, Body Style, Engine, Model Year, and Assembly Plant.
