Turbo Horseman - It's a Rack-It brand lumber rack, made just up the road from where I live in Nor. California. I can take a couple pix for you if ya like. It has a total of 4 top level cross pieces, the ones in the middle and end of the truck bed are both removeable, and I got it with the extra bracing that goes across the cab end of the bed rail, just for extra support if I ever need to carry some serious weight :D It is extremely heavy duty. Have had it for about 4 months.

Ted - Yep, I talked to Layne several times, and he admitted he used to just wrap the bumpers in carpet, but once he had a fork lift operator dig the forks through the side of the carpet and ding the bumper all to heck, so he came up with the wood crate idea.

Scott - Yep, I am sure planning to attend the breakfast, if it is going to be the morning of April 26th. I have other things going on that afternoon and evening.

Turbo, I'll see if I can get a couple pictures tonight after work before the sun goes down. I got the thing, like many of the other BOMBs to the truck, as an infrequent but much desired capability enhancing thing. I don't use it frequently, but I look at my truck like this: I don't ever want to be in a situation where I need/want to do something and say "darn, if only I had XYZ on the truck, I would be able to... ". I buy lumber/pipes from Home Depot about 3 - 5 times a year, and with my tool box in the bed of the truck, I only have 6 feet of bed space left, so I have to either drop the tail gate, or lean the lumber/pipes up on the gate, neither of which I like very much.

So, now, I can haul just about anything I might ever need to :D

Do you have the winch yet??? [/B][/QUOTE]

We had to mount my winch on the bumper and then the bumper on the truck.

So you will have the bumper installing technique down pat when you want to put the winch on

Turbo - here is the link to the new thread I just posted with pictures of the lumber rack.

By the way - if anyone would like the original, full sized pictures of either the bumper or the lumber rack, I'd be happy to email them to you. They are all about 400K in size, waaaay to large to post here, so I had to shrink them all way down.

Josparkz - nope, I won't be getting the winch until later this year. Planning on a Warn 12K pounder, and yeah, I kinda figured I'd end up pulling the bumper to put the winch in it, then putting it all back up there. Oh well... .

Total shipping cost was $229 from Fruita, Colorado to Sacramento, CA.

Layne charges $100 for the crate he builds to ship the bumper in.

The shipping company he uses (Motor Cargo) charges $129 for actual freight charges. I picked the bumper up at their shipping dock in West Sacramento. Layne told me if I wanted it delivered to my house, it would have been a lot more, as they would have had to send more than one guy out to deliver it, as it is way to large and heavy for one person to deal with.
