I have I think a 180 pump. I want to get the most out of my pump for my money.

Is there a happy medium between just putting LC delivery valves, 4K gsk, larger fuel lines and a different # fuel plate in. And sending it off and getting a Dragon Flow II pump?

If I send my pump off to a injection shop what is generally the price rates to get things turned up? I have a budget that seems to get lower as the weeks go on. So I would like to keep my pump mods under a grand. Would love to have and II dragon flow but can't part with the 3K's just yet... . maybe next year! :D

What can I do for my pump besides the simple bolt on mods. What can I axpect to pay for sending my pump off to an expert? Besides buying a stupid pump or dragon flow how close can I get for around $1,000?

II has a pump called "The dragon fly" for about $1300

i think it flows about 500 CC's or a little more

My pump from Antrim Diesel was a base 230 hp pump with LC delivery valves, cut plate, big rack cap, plus more but it flowed 500cc per 100 strokes with stock injectors. Not sure what the numbers are for marine or bigger injectors. All I know is it rocked

500cc's for a 1000 strokes running through stock injectors will do one of two things. Either split a barrel or smash the cam lobes flat... ... been there, done that with a 13mm pump.

My old pump was set up at the same place as his and its still running very well. Not sure on the 1000 strokes though stock injectors but it was around 500cc's.

Mine is a 12 mm pump ran at 100 strokes. They were ran on the test stand with smaller injectors than say a 370. Pump runs great.

When pumps are bench tested, fuel measurements are per 1000 strokes... not 100. Also for 700 hp, you will need a little more than 500cc as Jim will tell you.

They probobly ran 100 strokes and multiplied by 10, and they used a calibrated set of test injectors.

400 should be fine if here is trying to make 700 on the bottle..... this would be an easy goal. I could not tell you what my pump is at but it's not anything crazy, I'd say less than 500 as a guess. I actually have it leaned out a bit right now as it runs better on #2. If I want to make more power I just spend the whopping 30 it takes to swap to the Dragon Flows. Now there is some fuel to burn, maybe a little too much for a daily driver. I run a single . 063 solenoid for the N2O system and it matched with the 370's makes about 800 on the bottle, and with the I. I. injectors and it passes scary.

I got these figures with 448cc's:

Dyno-Jet ... 462hp with Don M tweaked 370s

Mustang ... 434/953 with Don M tweaked 370s

Mustang ... 407. 5/849. 1 with Don M EDM 3s

Forrest,

are the EDM 3's supposed to be larger than dons 370's?? Were they the "Hot rod" 370's, or just something Don did??

Yes, the 3's I had were larger than the 370's. When I ordered them, I talked to Don & he asked me if I wanted them "cut" to less than, the same or more than the 370's. Of course ... MORE :D

Then I found that Don had a set of 370's that he tweaked for dyno'ing. He hogged out the holes 20% over. I think they're the set Don used to the 600hp range, on a single turbo if I'm not mistaken. I think the turbo was a 1 off lag hog with gobs of PSI. Might even been the one that put shrapnel in the pistons :-laf but I'm not for sure. I swapped the 3's for those 370's.

The HX40 isn't any where big enough to give them the best supply of air. They smoke ... just a little ... :-laf ... I tow the 5th wheel with them, no problemo. Rt foot regulation. When I had the PDR Valet switch in & on, I was towing up in the Sierras around 7500' just fine. It was only when I came up on a good incline that I noticed I didn't boost up like normal. Plenty fuel :D
