injection pump gear(CRACKED)

While swaping to the new radiator support, I decided I would kill the dowel pin. Pulled the cover off the front of the motor and the gear that drives the injection pump is half way cracked.

Does anyone know where I can get the new gear?

Is there a Cummins shop near you. Get the build number off the aluminum strip tag along the side of the timing housing and they can get anything you need. Authorized Bosch repair facilities probably can get one. I expect there is a member that has an extra.



Never saw one cracked. Any evidence as to why it might be cracked?

Clean as a whistle. I cant figure for the life of me how it cracked.

Check the end play in your crank while your at it. A bad thrust bearing will cause the crank to walk back and forth and raise havoc with the gears.

The best place to get a new gear is from cummins... Have your serial # on had when ordering... The gears all look the same but they are not at all.



Over tightening the pump nut will often crack the gear. Refer to the torque spec. list for torque spec. . I think is 45 ft lbs. if I remember correctly
