Injection pump seepage

I had my injection pump replaced a little while ago because it was seeping diesel. Though I never saw an actual drip, it was wet on the bottom and the fan spread the smell around really well (including into the cab). The new one started doing the same thing a few weeks ago (except now I see evidence of drips below the pump).



Am I being too picky here or am I right to expect the pump to not leak? Is anyone else having this same problem?

This pump should NOT leak. What are the chances of getting 2 bad pumps? Slim, but possible. I'd bet it's more likely that when they installed it they over-tightened and warped a fuel line fitting. Also check to be sure it's not the rail that's actually leaking and running down a fuel line onto the bottom of the pump. I mean, if the pump was leaking and you replaced it but still have a leak, I'd look at these other possibilities before letting them just throw more parts at it.

Everything else I can see and touch is perfectly dry from what I can tell and it doesn't appear that any fittings are leaking. I leak tested all the fittings last time (I drove around for a day with cardboard wrapped tightly around them all) before finding the bottom of the pump wet and nothing else; haven't done it this time. But, taking your advice, I'll wipe everything off and look for any leaks again.

Badunit: I have had 2 injection pumps replaced because of the seepage problem you've discribed. I still have the problem. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. At first I thought it was because of the Edge EZ, but it's not because I've run the truck without it for about 1200 miles now and it seeped from day one. The dealer says there not having a problem with the CP-3,s seeping, but they don't put up a fuss about replacing the pump. This leads me to think that there is a problem that they don't want to talk about.

I also find it hard to believe a person could have actually three bad pumps if you include the original pump on the truck.

I have the same problem. Still leaks after replacement. It does not leak on the ground anymore, but if I put my hand under the injection pump I get diesel on my hand. Fuel lines are dry.
