On the way to the store the check engine light came on. I got two codes: 1693--a problem in the ecu or pcu

and 0216--injection pump timing problem--what does this mean?

the truck runs fine

HELP & THANX-tom

Please bear in mind that this info. comes from the 1999 Power Train Diagnostic Procedures manual. The 1693 is a general code that is thought to be just the ECM and PCM registering a simultaneous problem. For the 0216, possible causes include:

Defective lift pump

Fuel filter restricted

Lift pump inlet line restricted

Injection pump gear misalignment

It goes on to say that if none of these is the problem, it is assumed to be the injection pump itself.

Hope this helps.

I was taking my fuel pressure form before the filter because of the pulsations I was getting when it came off the injection pump. After reading your post I checked the pressure at the injection pump. It ws the same as pre filter until I went for a drive. About half way through fouth gear the pressurre guage went to ZERO! I backed off and it SLOWLY went back up to 16. I had a severly restricted filter. Today at work I hooked up the Chrysler DRB III scanner and reset the the codes. I now have 60 miles and no return of codes.

Thanx for the help, TGB
