Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) injection pump?

I have a 2002 High Output. I have been getting smoke, and sometimes does not respond to throttle. Usually has blue smoke in the mornings and when I rev it to about 2800. I have installed a new TPS sensor and today installed an airdog fuel prep. Still getting smoke at high rpm and occasional delayed throttle response. I think the vp44 is bad. I found a pump at a local diesel shop and would like to know how you tell if it has the new stainless steel bushing. It was a new pump made in 9 of 03. Thanks any help would be appreciated.

i have an 02 SO and i had the same problems. Took it to the dealer and they put a new vp44 on it and it has been running great. I hope this helps some. Matt
