I have been browsing the forum search for a possible answer to my problem and have come up empty. I am hoping everyones expertise will help me out here. I have a 01 CTD non HO, with 83000 miles. Off idle to about 1800 RPM it stumbles and hesitates when throttle is applied. After 1800 it finally takes off. I have had it to the Dodge dealer and they said no fault codes are coming up therefore there is no problem. The lift pump checks out ok. Fuel filter has about 1000 miles on it. It just started doing this all of a sudden. I am hoping for any help on this one. Thanks

Fill out your truck profile so we can have a little more information. Do you have any performance mods? Try taking the battery terminals apart and cleaning them real good, if that doesn't do it I would suggest removing all electrical connections and cleaning them and applying a good coat of dielectric grease.

Also reset you APPS when you have your batteries disconnected and reconnected. Sometimes it might be this simple. If not it didn't take you long to prove this wasn't the cause.

My truck had those same symptoms when I was experimenting with different boost modules. I think there was a bad connection at the MAP sensor, and as soon as I re-seated the connector, the problem went away. Crossing my fingers something like that might be your problem. Maybe only a bad connection.

Hope that helps.

most likely not your injection pump

especially if no codes showing

had the same problem with an 02

spent a ton of money trying to fix it (including pump)

never got fixed

hopefully its a bad connection somewhere

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge installed? Sometimes Dealers idea of OK lift pump doesn't necessarly mean it is OK.

Thanks for all the replies. I took the truck to competent diesel mechanic (i. e. -not Dodge dealer) and they found they problem to be a defective MAP sensor. The problem is not fixed however until the sensor comes in at the dealer. This leads me to two questions, Is the sensor covered under warranty? and Is a Dodge dealer the only place to buy the MAP sensor. BTW- Sorry about the truck info not being up to date Ithought I had entered it but I guess not.

The sensor should be covered. Dealers charge large dollars for them. You should be able to get it from Cummins for alot cheaper if the dealer will not cover it and wants to charge you for it.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I replaced the MAP sensor today and Voila! it was cured! I did learn a valuable lesson from this. Dont buy parts at the Dodge dealer as they charge extremely high prices for them. $164 at the dealer versus $69 at the Cummins shop. :--) Thanks again
