YES I did a search...

I have a set of the old BD Power re-nozzle Bosch "40 hp" Injectors for a 215 pump. They have less than 40K on them & are just sitting in a box. I have recently bought a 2nd CTD (97' Auto 4x4) & I was thinking about dropping them in. Currently the truck has gauges, AFE intake, #5 plate, 3K springs & straight exhaust. My question is this. . at the very least I will have them properly cleaned before I install them, but I was thinking extrude hone as an option for a little more performance... Anyone done this? Is it worth the money? My HP goals are like the 350 range. . I know I cant do much more than that w/o a bigger turbo. . that and I dont want to stress the transmission too much!

Thanks & I am glad to be back on TDR! Oo.

If you bought the truck with the guages and other upgrades, who knows if the DV's were ever changed. I would personally pull the #1 and see what is really in there. Knowing what I know now, I would not have had to buy 181's to run my 215 injectors on my 160HP pump. I had 167's already in there. I am not complaining because now it is already done for any future injector changes.

From my readings, most prefer the 181's unless you go with huge injectors.

Fordiesel... . thanks for the reply. SO did some more searching (need to edit my original post) & I see where I could have 181's already. If I pull #1 how will I be able to tell which injectors I have? And from my search it would seem the conscious is DV's are not that big of an issue unless your going for BIG hp numbers. As for the truck it came bone stock & I did ALL the work mentioned. Now my question is just about extrude hone or just clean & instal. As for my HP goal... nothing crazy, I am just looking to use these injectors & then I will possibly regrind my #5 into a ZERO.

Thanks!

Before we move off the delivery valves, the 160HP pumps were noted for having a dead spot if used with larger injectors, so the 181 DV's were the solution. I have not read anywhere that this is an issue with any other pumps so you should be OK, unless of course you want smoke, and then anything larger than 181's will provide that for you.

After pulling my injectors twice, they are easy enough, that I would try your 40HP ones and see if you are happy with them. There has to be a limit that you set yourself to stop, and I am not there yet. You need to answer that one, will you be happy with these injectors?

Going from 160HP injectors to 215HP made a huge difference. You going from 180HP to 215+40 injectors should also make a nice difference.

I would take em down to a pump shop, have them do a pop-off test and a leak test. Clean em up and throw em in. Don't bother with extrude honing with a stock trans. Worst case, take em out later and EH them after you get a decent transmission.
