I have a 2001 HO. I was 300 miles away from home for a few days and I had noticed periodic smell of diesel fuel when I would shut off or start up the truck. Over a couple of days the smell got stronger, and I could smell it sometimes through the air conditioning vents. Until this point, I could find no fuel leaks. Then I noticed about a 2" spot just ahead of the axle on the driver's side. When I looked under the hood, I could see it was leaking near an injector pump but I couldn't pin point it because the fan and highway speeds had fuel all over the entire undercarriage. It seemed to be just a seep and since it had been going on a couple of days, I thought I could make it the 300 miles home and take it to my own dealer. I didn't. I made it 100 miles and dropped a cylinder. When I looked under the hood I found an injector line fitting at the pump end had backed completely off and another was loose. Getting almost zero service out of Chrysler Roadside Assistance, I walked to a Walmart and bought some wrenches and a flashlight and fixed it myself. The next day I took it to my dealer at home and when I told him what had happened, he didn't look surprised. I commented on his mild reaction and he told me this was the third one he had seen. Evidently, the fittings are supposed to be lock-tighted and they are not in some cases. They put new lines on them under warranty.

Anybody else had this problem?
