New to the forum- will fill profile out shortly.

Is the injector knock that was discussed in an earlier post a rather loud knock? 03ho 11,000 on it started about 1000 miles ago. It is rather loud and intermittent. Kinda concerning though.

I believe it was referred to as pilot injector knock. I took it to the dealer before I joined the forum here( GREAT ONE BY THE WAY) and of course it did not do it when they had a scanner hooked to it.

Welcome to the TDR and yes it is a great forum.

To answer your question we need more information, like how often do you hear it, is it all the time or is it only when cold?

With the colder weather mine has had a bit of a rattle until it gets warmed up.

Sorry about that. Warm or cold it does not matter. It may do it all day long or a couple hours. It is extremely(sp) loud, enough so that all my buds with older generations were concerned with it. It is not a rattle per say, really sounds almost like a rod knock in the upper end more to the front of the motor.

I hate to say it but it sounds alot like the reversed piston talk that I have read on here.

No sig yet, but if you have an HO then it sure sounds as if one of the pistons is hitting a cooling nozzle.

I don't want to alarm you and I may be off base here but thats what I think it is.

that should be a constant noise all the time. I bet its a faulty temp switch thing that was posted earlier and is housed in the high psi injection pump. It senses its cold out and pilot injection being turned on and off.

Could be a stuck injector? If it's a California emissions truck, the ECM can sense a stuck injector pintle and will illuminate the MIL. If it's non-California then the ECM cannot sense it. Seems to me there was someone who had a knock on here some time ago and it turned out to be a stuck injector.

I went through a period where I had a pretty loud knock when taking off in 1st gear. Eventually it went away.

Welcome to the forum:) . Could it be the pump? Saw one go at about 5000 miles and it really made a bad noise. This was on an '03.
