Anyone know what the injector lines on the 12 valves are made from? I was wire wheeling the paint off of them last night since they were looking pretty ratty and they came out pretty nice. All the tarnish and paint came off easily and now they're all nice and shiny :D.

If they're stainless which I'm guessing they are then I don't see any reason to paint them again.

They are steel as Joe said. There are a few places that offer some in stainless and a bit larger. I had a set chromed by a shop that does triple nickel plating and wow did they come out nice, too nice to use almost... ... . Andy

So they're plain steel, thanks for the info fellas.

Looks nice Joe. Did you polish or chrome the intake and valve covers? It's hard to tell from the angle of the photo.

I wonder if the plating came off when I cleaned them with the wire wheel. They do look nice though, I'll have to keep an eye on them to see if they corrode. If they do, maybe powder coating would hold up.

I've painted my head with silver POR20 high temp exhaust paint, the block with black POR 15 engine enamel and the twins plumbing, valve covers and intake manifolfd/plenum with HEMI orange. I've read mixed results on the POR 15 products on our motors so we'll see how it holds up. My buddy's making me up a set of stainless lines for the heater plumbing. Hopefully it'll run as good as it looks.

The chrome kit is from Cummins. My wife gave me the money for the kit on my birthday after we bought the truck. It has the valve covers, intake air horn, alternator mount, and heater tubes.

I took the injector lines off the engine in one piece (take pictures of it before taking it apart) and used paint remover to get rid of the chipped paint. They are not as bright now so I have to polish them once in a while. I might chrome them sometime. There is some reflection in the chrome that confuses the picture a little.

As far as I know, Cummins does not sell it any more. I have heard that Sheid (sp?) Diesel in Pittsburgh, PA has them. I don't have any idea what they might want for the kit.

When I stripped the paint off the 96's lines the injector nuts were dark and discolored, and I couldn't clean them up. Any ideas how to solve the dark tarnished look?

I have also heard it's darn near impossible to find the chrome covers. I'm going to have Bob Wagner take care of powder coating the ones on the '98 someday.

At the shopo that we had our tractor work done at they had a braided line that was for "emergency" use only. If moeny weren't such an issue at the time I would have bought some. I belive it was a kit that had some adaptor fittings with it and it would get you home or to a shop if one got a hole in it and there was nothing around.
