Truck is an 05 with 78K miles. Never had any problems with injector lines and I do tighten the hold downs periodically. See where some owners have a real problem with this and was thinking about obtaining spares. However, to get all six would be sorta expensive and am wondering if there are one or two that are more likely to fail than the others. I am sorta mechanical and wonder how to replace. Would seem to be hard to tighten with a torque wrench due to limited space Thanks in advance

The #4 injector line is the one that most commonly breaks…so much so that Cummins released an updated design with a different hold down. It is only $26 plus s/h fromGensos garage. While they do sell replacements for all of them, most people only keep the number 4 around as a spare. In fact, it is simply a good idea to buy the updated #4, install it and keep the original #4 in the truck a spare BEFORE it cracks. Just my .02.

seafish, I thank you. I will order the #4 injector line. If you were going to order two, what would be the second one you would order. What about install, is looks to be fairly easy if torque isn't an issue Can I just snug it down like a gas line on an old gas engine and check for leaks. Appears it would be hard to use a torque wrench. Thanks again

I had customers replace that line 3-4 times before they install the fix, If I was to carry the additional #4 it would be stored in lube and shrink wrapped, BC if you just throw in in the truck it will rust internally and you will have another problem, I would NOT change it just to be changing it...No I won't post the permanent fix you will have to call and get it.
