Hey guys this is my first post here at the TDR and have a question for you, I am hoping to have my twins, PDR head and cam installed by mid January and definately want to upgrade my stock injectors to somthing much better, what are you all running and what kind of feed back can you give me. Thanks in advance, Mike

Howdy Mike; I'll move this on over to 3rd gen Engine and Drivetrain for 3rd gen specific upgrade ideas. This comp forum is a great one to look in for overall performance ideas though; you're not far off.

I don't think there's a cam out for the 3rd gen yet. If there is; I'll be looking into it too!!!

if you havent heard it already welcome to the tdr. if there for a 3rd gen i dont think they will do much good. when i talked to piers about buying a new truck they said to get a tst box (150+hp), twins, and a fass system, when i asked about injectors they said they wouldnt do any good because of the fuel system, but that should still be good for 550hp Oo. by the way whose doing the work for you ?

Welcome aboard Mike,

Several guys are running the Diesel Dynamics Stage 3 injectors including myself. I like them. They are fairly smokey but provide great power. I think there are some EDM's available for the 03's but I haven't heard much about them yet.

Good Luck

Thanks Big MAK and mjoppie for the welcome. Piers is trying out a new grind on a 3rd gen cam as far as I know with good success and from what I understand I can get one pretty quick. That makes perfect sense about the injectors I cannot use my TST above level 7x7, it pumps so much fuel that I think it puts the flame out because I get some hesitation at and above that level. Bob Berends with Performance Diesel Transmissions does all my work for me and I will highly recommend him to anyone. Mike

Lonestar thanks as well for the welcome. How much more hp do you gain with the stage 3 injectors, is the smoke controllable.

The stage 3's are a 100hp gain. The smoke is definitely controllable with the PMCR.

Hope this helps

 Well... :D the box has a little to do with it I'm sure. Thats why I made the second comment that the smoke is definitely controllable with the box. ;)

I do love the DDIII's, now I just need some airflow improvements to take full advantage of them.

I have DD Stage 2 injectors and I am very happy with them. Clean running, excellent mileage, no smoke even at 6000 ft. taking off here in Albu. unless I go wild with the DD True Torque box (#4). Then at altitude i can get a puff, nothing more. No smoke under power after that initial take-off. I am running the Jammer turbo from DD and it spools just a tiny bit slower than stock, contributing to the ability to make a brief, initial puff of smoke. Nothing like Ol' Sickly the 12 valve could do for smoke! It's amazing how much power the 3rd gens can make without smoke bringing the smog nazis around in a feeding frenzy.

Before worrying about a cam, I plan to get the new ball bearing turbo that DD has almost finished.

I have a cam in my 3rd gen. Scheid did it when they built the motor. They will also will re-work your stock injectors for a 60hp gain.

I would like to find a set of EDM's if anyone is making them yet, when I finally get the truck back.

Isnt it true that the EDM's can give better fuel economy if you can keep your foot out of it?

I have had both DDII's and DDIII's in my truck. The Egt's on the 3's is a little high. No smoke with either even with the EZ on level 6. SOP meter is not that much higher with the 3's either.
