Just putting them back in. I noticed that the injector seems to have its own snap ring that keeps downward pressure on the injector by the injector nut.

Now, there is another ring recessed into the top of the injector nut. What do these do? How important are they etc?

Thanks for any help.

Are you talking about the rubber ring you put in after installing the injector? That goes in the little groove against the injector housing and top of the holding nut?

every one of them felt like steel to me. Are they supposed to be rubber???? They seemed to be brittle.

Thanks guys. I went to the store and the guy gave them to me... I think he's feeling bad for me and my "first injector job". . LOL

Now, back to removing the return fuel line etc etc etc . . :)

On the top of the injector nut is machined out for a "Square ring" type gasket. The injector shop said it was to keep dirt etc out of the area between the injector and nut.

Anybody want to buy a project truck? runs strong and smooth but smokes.

PM me with a ballpark price. I know someone looking for a good deal on a 1st gen.

Well, I learned my lesson. I don't have the time or energy or place to get involved with a project truck. Old Smokey found a new owner who is a newly graduated diesel mech. He's going to rebuild the whole motor etc.

I'll keep my nose over in the 3rd gen area where it belongs. :)
