I went and had my DDP 110's pop tested. They have about 40k miles on them and the service place said the were in fair condition. They said that they all opened between 262 and 269 bars. My question is how much variance is acceptable? They told me that I should replace them... . I am awaiting a call back from the DDP tech at this point. Any thoughts?

From the '01 factory service manual:

Check opening pressure or “pop” pressure.

Pressure should be approximately 31,026 kPa (310

bars) or (4500 psi +/- 250 psi). If fuel injector needle

valve is opening (popping) too early or too late,

replace injector.

(b) Perform a leak-down test on injector. Apply

pressure with injector tester. The injector should

not leak (drip) fuel with pressure at approximately

20 bars (291 psi) lower than pop pressure.

FYI:

4500 psi = 310. 26 bar

4750 psi = 327. 5 bar

4250 psi = 293. 03 bar

Given that, the variance sounds good. However, according to factory spec they all sound low. Can't the shop adjust the pop pressure back to spec? Bottom line, whatever DDP says goes in my book.

One last thing, I used this converter to change bars to psi or vice versa.

Thanks for the info.
I am not sure where DDP sets the opening pressure so I did not want them messing with them. For some reason I can't get a tech at DDP to call me back. I have left 2 messages with the receptionist and have not been contacted.
