well, I was in rush hour traffic downtown, in the rain, in the dark; the light turned green and I pushed down, felt like stepping on a plum! I did it a few more times (meanwhile large space opening up in front of me) still wouldn't come off idle. I idled around the corner and pulled over; opened the hood and pulled the lever where the throttle cable ends; no rev up. I was in panic mode (means logic area of brain not working); pulled into parking lot and looked around some more. Crawled under and didn't see anything. Looked at side of pump while I moved lever and saw a rod moving with nothing attached. Towed to shop, pushed key under door, caught a ride home from daughter and went to bed. Next morning looked in shop manual; rod supposed to go to back of pump where fuel lever is. Called shop and told them what to do; they called back in PM and said rod end completely broken offn new heavy duty replacement on order. I haven't seen any posts about this--is this common problem? Is HD upgrade part good fix? Thanks. 96 CTD 185K miles.
