I am about to have a new(remanufacured) pump put on my truck by Scheid diesel they said the pump is going to cost around $1200 and it will have a 1 year warranty. Is this the warranty that most everybody else offers? Just curious.

Thanks,

Cory

just ask if the 1 year warranty covers electronics then there will be no doubt if it would fail within the warranty period.

just a suggestion

The electronic control board that's mounted on top of the VP-44 - was some rather heated controversy when the board failed on one users aftermarket pump and warranty was denied...

overheating of electronics is one of the major failure points of the vp 44

are you planning on running a major fueling box?

Bob, I am going to go back to injectors only and get rid of my box, so does this mean that I shouldn't have any problems with the electronics?

Cory

Cory, Yes that will be a better bet for the vp44 life span. good choice IMHO . I am 4 yrs. w/o pump tapping and I have plenty of power to make me happy. :)

Bob, one more question. When I get rid of the box what do I need to get so I can keep the same amount of boost because the box is what keeps the truck from defueling right? even when it is off. So when I get rid of the box what do I need to get so it won't defuel? I have the little elbow deal on the turbo of course and it will run about 35-36 psi with the box off, and I would like to keep it that way after I get rid of the box so I can have good power with low egt with the bigger injectors.

Sorry if this is confusing

Cory, from your profile I cant see your injector size. But if or when you go to larger injectors you can either get a BD boost fooler or just step up and get the catcher ecm which is programed for high boost pressures and give a great boost too.

so many choices :)

Bob, I don't know the injector size. They are from Scheid diesel and all they said is that they were more than the 275's. I do remember them saying that there was a thing called an a. d. ds device (anti defueling device). Do you know anything about this I think it just plugs in on the back of the motor.

Cory

BD sells a boost fooler device . it prevents defuelings above stock levels, probably close to the same.

Scheid is well respected in the high horsepower game so you should be fine
