Yep, that swap has been done a number of times. Might check out the First Gen forums. Be warned, it is a bit of a job. Basically have to pull the radiator, move AC condensor, remove the camshaft and replace the timing case.

I've kinda thought about going the other way on my '96, swapping out for a VE pump, partly in hopes of curing an incurable slight miss, and hopefully improve towing MPG because VEs have dynamic timing (p-pumps have fixed timing). Doubtful I'll ever do it though, a lot of work for what will likely be minimal gain.

VE to P-pump

I have done this swap a few times, it is well worth it if you are looking for big power increase. you will need to pull the cam to replace the timing case, also have to change the injectors, lines, lift-pump, filter housing, throttle linkage, and you will have to wire the fuel shuttoff solenoid. it is a pain in the truck but like i said it is well worth it. if you are only wanting 300hp or less then dont bother with the swap, a good p-pump and all the pieces for the swap can cost 1000. 00 easy. you will have no hp limits with the p-pump, try to find a 215 pump if you do the swap. :-laf

also you will have to check your injectors when you pull them, some are 7mm and some are 9mm. there are adaptors available if yours were the 9mm so you can put the more common 7mm in.

Can anyone tell me where I might could find a timing case and other parts for a 1st gen to 2nd gen swap at a resonable price?

Do you have you run the 2nd gen camshaft and gear? I am sure you will need the p-pump gear, but what about the cam itself?
