Please answer "yes" if you've had at least 1 injector replaced, "no" if you have not had any injectors replaced.

I was just curious what sort of injector failure rate we're seeing.

-Ryan :)

I don't think there is an issue with the 305/555 engines. I have two of them with well over 150k miles combined. I think that when they went to the 325/600 power ratings the problem came up. In fact, so far I am inclined to think that maybe just the '04. 5 and early '05 trucks are suspect. I certainly could be wrong though.

I didn't vote yet as my '05 goes in for a bad injector diagnosis tomorrow.

I had one injector replaced at 12000 miles, it started showing signs at 7000 miles. It made things better, but still not quite right. I think I still have at least one more bad injector.

I have had two replaced so far. Dodge called the other day and said number three has arrived so I will make a appointment for next week. The ones that have gone bad so far are: #1,#5 and now #6. :(

34k miles and I'm thinking I need a whole set. Something a little bigger and better ya know ;)

-Scott

PS, no failures with the stockers.

What are the symptoms of a bad injector?

I second that question.

Should the injector lines be smooth? I heard line 1 shakes a little bit but the rest should be smooth. Will you notice higher egt's with a bad injector? Lower fuel economy? What else should we look for? Is there anything that can be done to prevent an injector failure?

34k and no problems yet.

4800 miles on the '05, #3 was found bad. The tech claimed that most of the ones he had seen were #3 for some reason. He also mentioned that failures seemed sporatic and he had not had any "come backs" on replaced injectors.

No problems on my 2 '03s, 150k+ combined :)

My failed one was leaking fuel. This would cause it to start rough and smoke. It also had a noticably shaky idle like it was missing, and it was. I do not have gauges but I bet egt's were up, un-metered fuel will do that. The truck seemed to run normally off-idle but was really bad in gear at a stop light.

Number six replaced at 35000 mi. The noise was a knock ,cackle- clack, just off idle. Now its quiet just like new... ... ... ... . JIM

none changed for me, but i suspect i have a weak one [i think #4] but i won't have a dealer look at it until summer and i will check the torque on them myself when the weather gets nicer [spring]

Swapped, not replaced

Mine had rod knocking type sound just off idle at ~25,000 miles. Found to be #6 cylinder by deactivating. SWAPPED #6 with #3 injectors and problem is gone. Can't figure out why it would have fixed anything - but it did.
