The dealer has replaced 9 injectors in my '03. They also replaced my CP-3 HP pump but it didn't fix the problem. I have the extended warranty with 70,000 mile currently. Now, they won't do anything. I have low mileage, off 3-4 mpg, and when it starts cold, it bangs like a 24 valve, non-common rail. It runs real rough until warm. Power is low. Even when warm it feels like it is missing.

An independent diesel mechanic agrees I need new injectors but was at a loss as to where to get them other than the dealer.

What injectors have you all used with success? I do have the 7 micron fuel filter and change it every 5-7,000 miles. Of course, I'd like to have something that will run clean.

Suggestions?

I have yet to have a set of DDP injectors fail, but they use the same injector bodies. My only though is that the stock units aren't assembled together correctly, torque wise. Thats all I can think of.

As for stock power injectors, they are expensive and hard to come by in the aftermarket.

send them to formula one don will replace the tips and pop test the injector to see if any other problems with the solenoid, body, or conector tube.

even the 7-micron is a debris passer, buy a fass w/ filters and 2-micron filtration and buy some II injectors---you cant go wrong, iv'e had them on my truck for over a year and not one hick up..... :D

Thanks. I like their data on how they machine and flow check the nozzles. Do you use the AMSOIL 2 micron bowel filter? I became a AMSOIL dealer in 1980, but I am my primary customer. I got fuel at the local truck stop today. The flow was really slow and I told them. They said they probably needed to change the filters. When I went back out, I noted that the "filters" were 30 micron. 5 micron was the standard in Navy Aviation for fuel. 30 microns if pretty big. I have the 7 micron Fleetguard.

7 micron??? did yo go aftermarket for that just curious. I just changed mine with napa drop in and they told me it was 7 micron. so i hope you didnt waste your money on aftermarket.

I ordered my injector s 2 months ago from I. I. the ups guy dropped em off today along other goodies. I talked to Wade too late and he told me that he coulda got them for me cheaper and quicker than the 3 weeks I. I. qouted me that actually took 2 months and some harassing people. you might give wade a call. he has a 2003 truck and his old stage 2 injectors that he took off to run custom edm injectors might still be sitting around. they were not too long ago. he may sell. Regardless I edm'd injectors all balanced proper equipment is the way to go. screw dodge and their reps saying let change just this one when there are 3 not flowing the same out of 6. I may have a warranty but i honestly pay out of pocket and go else where when i pay someone to fix my stuff. I cant stand dealers bullcrap

one more thing i have seen crazy things like the inside of the fuel lines scaling off on a brand new less than 5k miles chevy. they didnt find until the replaced the ENTIRE fuel system. the other times they replace pumps, injectors filter, and such. this time they replaced the tank, the lines, pumps (again), filter, 8 injectors, everything and found it and never had a problem since. its rare very rare at that but anything is possible.

I get the 7 micron fuel filters from Genos Garage genosgarage.com

The 7 micorn is the most expensive fuel filter listed. They are a good source for filters and gauges and other things. They are made by the same company that Mopar and Cummins uses and 1/4 the cost. These folks are top notch and so good to do business with and will make it right and help you solve problems.

As for filters, go with the Fass or th GDP dual unit. I did the GDP and like it real well. The GDP comes with a 10 micron prefilter w/ water drain and a 3 micron final filter. I believbe the Fas is similar in filter ratings.

On the injector failure, unless something is getting by the filter, like water or other contaminates, there has to be a asembly error. Either from the injector manufactor or the installer. Like a previous post stated, it rare tha a fuel line will flake, but it does happen, esp. with certrain fuel additives etc. Usually, a technician will see fines (contaminates) while replacing the old injectors.

Keep us posted on what you find wrong.
