Hello,

I installed new Bosch 190 injectors in my truck. I noticed my old OE injectors had thick sealing washers on them and the new injectors came with thinner ones. I read the instructions that PDR sent with them, and the instructions said to use the same size washer. So I dig out the 6 thick washers from the installation kit and installed them. I just want to be sure this is correct. Also why do they have three different size thickness washers?? Thanks!

Earl

Hey Earl, I also installed PDR 190's on my truck although I used the . 020 washers. I believe they come with 020,060 &090. My stock 160 hp injectors had 060 washers, Piers recommended running the 020's. From what I gather, the different washer thicknesses gives you the ability to place the injector tip slightly closer or further away from the piston bowl. Thinner washer = injector closer to bowl=slightly advanced timing, effectively. Not sure in the real world though, how big of a difference it really makes... . K2

Thanks for the reply K2Diesel,

I hope I shouldn't of put the thick washers in. I had two injectors in with the thin washers that came on them, before I noticed. So I was like man, what needs to be in there. So I read the instructions and it said to use the same size that was in the engine. So I pulled the two back out and put the thickest washers on, as the OE injectors had and installed the rest with the thick washers.

Did your OE injectors have six holes? The 190's had three holes I believe. I know for sure mine are the OE injectors.

Either washer 'will' work... the only thing is the thinner one's tend to help ease the smoke at the low end if you really work the pump up... . most often the thin one's are put in but you're ok. .

Earl, my oe's had 6 holes, pretty sure. I think the 190's have 4. I've got my pump set up pretty mild, yet I still had more off idle/pull up/mid-range smoke than I wanted (even with a light foot), with the 190's & 16 cm housing. 4" exhaust helped some, but what really made er run was a nice used hx35. :) The wastegated 12cm housing is going on next. Thanks for the info guys!

This weekend I'll pull the injectors back out and put the thin washers in. Gotta bring my idle back up to spec too. I noticed my fumes are stronger then before. Is this normal or is this due to the thick washers. Guess it could be from the lower idle that I need to adjust.

Installed the thin sealing washers today. The fumes aren't strong anymore and the engine runs smoother. Very pleased! Also installed my ASA intake kit that I got from PDR as well. It's sweet and man does the turbo come alive! Sounds like a semi turbo spooling up. Oo.
