so does anyone have any info on how long these injectors are meant to last? im wondering if mine arent worn out. i know when these injectors where the only style to use caterpillar had a service life on the injectors. also an old mechanic who used to work on those engines would replace them as per cat and the drivers all said it made a big difference. im just wondering if there is any literature i might be able to look at on this idea from the b series engines

I replaced mine at 470k. They still worked great, but so much fuel had been pumped thru them that the holes had enlarged and I was getting a lot of smoke. I had them bench tested by a Bosch shop and all they needed were new tips, however parts and labor were more than buying a new set from PDR. I believe that RVPilot recently posted that he just replaced his originals at close to a million miles.

ive got 230k on mine and mine hazes all the time. i noticed the other day pulling a trailer that it hazes under load like that. also with the exhaust i LOVE the smell of diesel exhaust but my truck is very overpowering and sulfuric. im wondering if the tips arent worn out and putting too much fuel in the engine.

This is a good question. I have 325,000 on mine, and I've been running a lot of vegetabe oil through them since 2006. No smoke (except occasionally on start up), but also I wonder how long a set of injectors usually lasts.
