Archived Injector shop recommendation near Gilroy Ca

Well we are 350 miles from home on a camping trip. 2004.5 141k has had a lope in the idle for about 4-6 months. Power service additive has quieted down the injectors. Pulled a good hill with the trailer and dropped it at the campground. Drove back into town w/o trailer. On way back up hill it made a weird rattle on hard acceleration. Then a few pops and clouds of white smoke. Goes away when I take my foot off it. I need a good shop hopefully just to diagnose the prob and if injectors, just replace the necessary ones. I don't want to pay for a whole set from a mech so far from home.

Find anything out? I text erick this morning saying you were headed that way. He called me right away and asked what was going on with your pickup because he was in meetings all day. Had a nice long conversation with him and he said he would look into it.

I arrived at about 1pm. Eric's brother advised all the injectors were were badly worn. We replaced all six with Bosch remans , adjusted the valves(exh was too tight), changed the stock filter and the 3 micron filter. I was back on the road by 5:30 pm. Not a cheap fix but they are very knowledgeable people that are familiar with diesels. I didn't realize how much power I was missing w bad injectors. Much smoother now. Thanks for the suggestion. I know new injectors would be better but I don't even want to contemplate the cost of those.

I added a GDP 3 micron filter between the stock filter and the injection pump about 3 months ago. I have been putting together a dual water separator and will make a bracket similar to the xxx bracket. That will go on soon.

No problem. I have run bosch remans for a couple of years and only had one problem with them and it was a bad coil. I personally run them in my pickup. Reb is super smart with dodges. Did you have a chance to look at all theit toys?
