Need to replace # 5 Sol. on my 2006. Is there any access holes to remove the two rear hold down bolts on the valve cover ? Or a special wrench that fits in the very limited space above the valve cover ?

I also can be reached 303-886-2506

Removed the wipers and the cover and did no t find any holes to the VC bolts. There is rubber plugs that do not align with VC bolts.
If I can access these rear bolts I do not know if there is enough room to have them clear enough to remove the VC.Having removed the front they stick up higher than I have room.

Finally got the VC cover off. What a tight fit. May remove some of the padding insulation above the rear of the VC before reinstalling. Measured all injector SOL. All but # 5 read .5 to .6 ohms. Sol. # 5 reads 1.6 ohms. Believe this is my problem.

Injector will come out without removing and padding. VC cover goes on and off without removing anything either. Short socket and small ratchet or a ratcheting wrench work fine. Replacing just a solenoid is not a great idea, there are several settings that need adjusted when a solenoid is changed.

1.6 ohms won't cut it. You have found the bad one. I've changed solenoids quick and easy on my 5.9 ISB in a 2007 Mega Cab. Same engine a yours. Do a search on TDR on solenoid replacement. It was even featured last year in one of the TDR issues. The nuts on the solenoid are fastened to the wires to prevent loss. I'd still cover any holes that drain in the crankcase to make sure nothing goes there. You have to remove one rocker arm assembly to unscrew the ring on the solenoid. I believe the socket to remove the solenoid ring is a 1 1/16" 12 point deep well socket. The socket will fit a hair loose but it only needs fifteenft pounds torque. I bought my new replacement solenoids on Ebay. The Bosch ones need the ball removed out of the old solenoid and installed in the new one. I believe the hex nut is 2.5mm to do that. Self explanatory if you look at them. Non Bosch have the hex nut and ball already in it. Once the band is loose, lift the solenoid straight up. Notice the top of the injector has a part you don't want to disturb. Now just reassemble in reverse. Too bad it's number five to test your grit. One through four are easier to see. I can do this in twenty minutes totally in the daylight. I've never had any replaced ones fail yet and they ohm out identical to the originals. Also know that the wires in the valve cover gasket can and will go open and high joint. They are also tested with an ohm meter. I carry an extra solenoid in the truck in case another went out when I'm out in the boonies. If you still have trouble, email me. Good luck, Herb
