I took some shots of injector tips and did some rough measurements with autocad. I will add some more information on the tip numbers tonight. Does anyone know the size of the tips on stock injectors? The stocks have 6 holes, Bully dog 5 holes (had them rebuilt with new tips so may be digfferent size than the bully dog 5o hp) and the PODs have 4 holes.

Good stuff. Keep it coming. Stock intercooled tips are 6x . 09. NonIC'd are 4x . 012 I think... POD's 4x ?? Again getting into trade secret info, so don't ask for 185's and 190's specs etc... ..

Jim,

Your number don't make sense to me. The injector diameter should be 7 mm not 25 ???

Am I looking at it wrong?

I also measured the holes in my Bully Dogs and the stockers, but I can't find where I wrote them down. I remember . 010" or . 012" diameter for the stockers. (9mm tip) I had an shop attempt to edm one additional hole in the stockers and that came out to be about . 016/. 018" on the last 5 and over . 020" on the first one (set up issue). I know that first one is real ugly... right Bill? :-laf

forgot to mention the scale. I used 1/4" for the tip body and then worked from there. I did not have a micrometer to measure the actual tip. If I use 7mm for the tip it converts to . 2756 inches the numbers are in hundreths of an inch. I will plug in and repost.

I updated the injector tip size for 7mm I will need to check to see if that is the exact measurment or if there is space for additional clearance or thermal expansion. I also forgot to mention that 5 hole set that I list as BD were a used set of Bully Dog injectors that I bought but had to have them rebuilt with new tips because the pressures were way off. At least by looking at some pictures you can tell which injectors may have been installed before when you decied to uypgrade to larger ones. I just installed the POD injectors and can notice more smoke and some more power, but have not tested them full out yet. Oo. will try to dyno in feb to see if power has increased and how much. Another note on the POD injectors is that they pop at 265 bar where ase the stocks and BD pop at 245 bar. Engine runs smoother except for some more noise from the injection pump.

Uhhh... Jim... . you have WAY too much time on your hands bud... ;)... ... yer gonna fit right in with this wacked out bunch of loons... . errrr... affecianadoes. . (sp??)... ok, guys.

Timing

How much retardation (engine that is :) ) do you get with 265 Bar POD vs. 245 Bar stock popoff pressure?

Is this significant with regards to pump position or pretty insignificant?

Is there anyway to really tell?

BTW this thread and the one on POD washer thickness is an example of why that $35 is so insignificant compared to the education.

Moab4x4- I think guys have advanced the pump about 2-3deg to retain OEM dynamic timing (or whatever they had with stock pressures). I wouldnt go much more than that. So, if you have 1. 5mm with stock/BD/PW injectors, you may want to go to 1. 6-1. 65mm with PODs.

injectors with 6 pins are stock adn the ones with 5 pins are either PW or marine 370's as close as I can tell the holes on the 5 hole injectors are . 012".

Judgind by seeing them on the test stand, they are angled slightly downward, but mostly outward. I'd guess around 80-85 deg perpendicular to the body. But you also have to account for the angle at which the injectors go into the head. They have to be angled so as to make a flat spray into the combustion chamber, from an angle off plum in the head. So there will be a variance in angle degrees from hole to hole.

The injector holes are not at all what I expected. Fairly crude, just a hole, no fancy cutting edge etc. or any provision to fan or atomize the spray. I think a guy with some experience could easily file or hone these out. Am I wrong?
