Judgind by seeing them on the test stand, they are angled slightly downward, but mostly outward. I'd guess around 80-85 deg perpendicular to the body. But you also have to account for the angle at which the injectors go into the head. They have to be angled so as to make a flat spray into the combustion chamber, from an angle off plum in the head. So there will be a variance in angle degrees from hole to hole.

Wasn't one of the supposed advantages of the 24 valve engine, to place the injectors centrally in relation to the piston for a more even spray pattern?

a guy with some experience could easily file or hone these out. Am I wrong

I agree with you. The tough part might be finding a file/hone/tool small enough to get in there.

That's why extrude honing is popular. It uses a slurry. And we used to have one of those machines here too... . long gone though, darn.

About angle aI think the stocks are supposed to be 155 deg and the marine 370's and other performance injectors used in 2nd gen are 145 degrees. I would think this is for a different bowl design in the pistons in the marine engines.

Hand Worked

I would use a Diamond file, round or rat-tail, having a set of pins would make this a whole lot more fun. Not everyone would have access to a media hone.

JLEONARD, are injectors placed in a fixture etc. and then placed in a media hone? Or is there such a thing as an injector hone machine?
