I have a 95 auto with a 160hp pump. I am not sure form all the threads that I've read what injector and turbo I should go with. I feel that DD3's from Diesel Dynamics is a good choice. I would like to run the injectors for a while before I purchase a turbo. I am not sure what turbo would be the best fit for me. I would like to keep the 160hp pump, money issues. And do not want to stud/fire ring the block. These are my guidelines that I would like to stay in. My truck is a daily driver that I tow with it once or twice a month. The worst hills that I would get into are typically in Missouri or Tennessee. I am thinking DD3's for now. Maybe a phat shaft 62/12 when I get the money saved. And if the turbo could handle it maybe dv's. Mileage is an issue. I have 190,000 on the truck. My mileage has gone down about a mile or two over the last 30 to 45,000. I know the low sulfur fuel has something to do with it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same pump with an auto. I went with 370's for injectors that are cleaned up with tuned springs and smoothed out holes so they pop almost at the same pressure (this will improve slow idle smoothness and mid torq jerkiness). Had to get it to breath better though without changing the turbo orginally. So went with a 4" exhaust and an AFE mega-cannon intake. That cooled things down pretty good and allows the engine to breath. To get the most out of the 370's and keep from frying the head and pistons I also had to change the timming to 16° and disconnected and plugged off the turbo's waste gate and added a #6 plate. I never went over 1200°F even in a hard pull and there was enough air from the stock HX35 to provide up to 25 lbs of boost.

This "first step" wasn't real hard on the pocket book. 370's aren't bad on price and are easy to get but need tuning and cleaning up. The 4" exhaust and big intake aren't too bad either. The hard part honestly was setting the timming. That is a PIA and must be done carefully unless you have a local shop that can help you. I've changed a lot of things since then but for a '95/160 daily driver thats a good start. I still get 18. 5 mpg but I'm in the South with mild winters, a lot of 0² in the air and moisture which helps. I run mine every day. Comming up on 205,000 on the clock this weekend.
