I'm thinking of upgrading from the RV275 injectors to a DD2 or Bully Dog injector or any other equivelant. One question is pricing as brand new RV275 injectors are $260 and modified injectors that you return the cores are more than 2 times the cost with no manufacturing cost. Also will the change from RV275 be a noticeable gain in power or are there going to be trade offs along the way, such as low end pwer, high egt. smoke, etc. David W.

I dont think EGTS will be much of an issue,my Dad;s 01 had the dd2's,EZ and a BHAF,with a turnbuckled wastegate,he has no EGT issues at all, even towing heavy. The smoke isnt bad at all, just a tiny bit off boost then it clears right up,idle is great, you will love the dd2's.

I have a friend that is selling a set of DD2's because he is selling his 02 in favor of the 03

If you are interested in a set of DD2's with only 15K miles

shoot me an email

They reuse the injector body as far as I know. All wear parts, and tip are replaced. I could be wrong. Cores are a PITA when you are upgrading, and dont want to turn in your DD2's for a bigger set of DD SM's .

all these guys want the cores back if they won't work on used injectors.

reduces cost when you reuse the injector body vs buying new. the nozzles are what you "work on".

What is the core charge if you wanted to keep your stock injectors?

Usually somewhere around $100. That is basically what the bodies would cost for them go out and buy minus just a tad.

DWest,

The Stage 2's will definatly be more noticeable and you shouldn't have any problem with EGT's, as has been reported by people on the TDR. 275 injectors approx. 35-40 HP, stage 2 injectors 80 HP. I would still preferr a boost box of some type just to be sure or keep an eye on the pyro gauge while towing until your sure you do not need a boost fooler.

If you still have your old stock injectors you could trade them in as the core charge and then sell your 275's to someone else.

Check out the set Bob's friend has you might get a good deal and 15K on the injectors is almost new.

Bullydog injectors

Got a good price on bullydog injectors from dixsons diesel, has anyone used these and how do they compare to DD's. Ronsram, thanks for the post, I already have an Edge EZ and have the wastegate turnbuckled shut so this should take care of any EG problems. Do these have the same low end as 275s as I'm really happy with that. DW

The guys that use the bullydog injectors like them but VERY few have used the same stage from Bully and DD and as far as I know no one has run them head to head on a dyno so comparitive data is little to none. My OPINION from seeing the Bullies run is that they are a little smokier, but there is no doubt they make the power. For me I will stick with DD injectors as I know them to be first rate, the guys on the other side of the fence say the same thing.

I really doubt you will lose any bottom end power, but don't know for sure. I would think that power across the board will be up at least somewhat. I have run 1's and 3's from DD. I thought the 3's were a little weaker on the bottom, but a large part of that is because the big end is SOOOO strong. I do know I can't make the boost I used to with the 1's at 1400-1900 RPM, I am probably 8-10 psi lower, but with an auto transmission that is a good thing. Besides, I go through that RPM range in a flash and once over about 1900 the 3's FLAT SCREAM!!! The DD2 is known for a real solid low end as reported by guys that have run the 2's and the 3's, and for having lower EGT. Email or call Bullydog and ask them, if anyone would have a definitive answer it would be them.

I have DD2's. Before I got the comp when pulling heavy up a 6% grade in hot weather I had to be careful of the EGT's. On the flat there is no problem at all. Course I was doing 60 at the time. Just make sure you watch those temps
