My truck has had a badly running engine for a while. It's like something is loose in fuel system (or something else) I thought it might be fr the AFC live I've put in, it allows you to adjust the AFC from inside can, on the fly. So I've been meaning to take it in (good diesel mechanic in Sac area?) What the engine does is power fluctuates often and almost instantly. It can be bogging down and then instantly starts running well. Today at a stoplight I accelerated away and glanced at pyro, it went up to at least 1500 degrees while also bogging down, barely moving and barely accelerating. I went to gas station where I am now. I started it up after I kind of got my head together I was upset that I was stuck in traffic and had to continue driving. Now it seems ok idling, guess I'll start driving again but I'll drive gently and hope it doesn't do it again.

Sounds like sticky injector(s). Don't drive it get in and have the fuel system tested. Check your oil level and see if your (making oil).

Not sure what AFC Live is because that is not a common anything on a CR. That high EGT's was probably lack of boost which the power problem. In stop and go traffic it easy to heat soak the CAC and when you try to take off it just doesn't work.

I babied it for the rest of the drive. I will check the oil in a few minutes. I'm going to undo this jerry rigged thing that's involved with the AFC live and see if it goes away. This is in my 2nd gen with p7100, a 1994 Dodge Ram.
I'm going to find out what is wrong with the changing acceleration, and I might have to disconnect/remove the AFC live to eliminate that possibility.
What I did (altho there's a problem obviously) was that it's irritating slowing everybody behind me in traffic, so I today gave it a lot of throttle, even though I knew it couldn't 'use' it, when it bogs down. I watched the egt and was very surprised to see the temp shoot up so fast and so far. It took 30 seconds (maybe) to come down too, even though it had no throttle 'in' at that point.
It feels exactly like when my injection pump needed another overflow valve, it would not take any throttle, but then it recovers (often) and accelerates normally. I have to get this fixed ASAP.

Although I don't know how low fuel pressure (the symptom of a weak OFV) could cause that issue, I have to ask. What is your fuel pressure?

I know that my '92 is very different, but when my VE pump went out, I did experience high EGT and no power... IIRC, it had everything to do with timing. Perhaps, the pump slipped timing somehow???

AFC Live operates off of air pressure. If you have major boost leaks, your AFCL will not function properly. Get yourself a boost leak tester from the interweb & check out your system. 40-50$
Let us know what you find!

I would start by checking for any restrictions in the intake or exhaust, could be a collapsing intake tube, air filter or similar but if that all checks out then move to fuel and boost check.
