What difference the thickness of the washer makes on how the injector performs? Pros/Cons of using thinner washers vs thicker washers? Why the different thicknesses?

On the 370's we use the thin one. I think it has to do with cyclinder wash out. Be carefull before you do any thing.
 
You usually want to run the thin washer. What this does is put the injector tip farther into the cylinder and thus helps get the fuel spray pattern into the piston bowl. When you get fuel outside of the bowl you get smoke, higher egts, and less power. Running the thin washer will not hurt a thing..... Sometimes you have to torque the injector down a little tighter that specs though.

Can you elaborate on this, if I use a thinner washer than what came with the injector, what should I expect as I do have the ISB 24V.

The thickness of the washer in the ISB precisely elevates the injector body hole (where the fuel comes into it) with the fuel tube that delivers fuel through the cylinder head. Injection lines on a 24V do not attach directly to the injector... but rather to a tube that goes to the injector.



Thus any difference in a washer on a 24V injector will raise or lower it... the fuel tube wont line up with the hole in the side of the injector and you'll have a major malfunction in fuel delivery. The injection lines, fuel tube, and injector all connect to each other through compression. The fuel tube is almost perpendicular to the injector (more or less). And its fixed in its bore and cannot tolerate any injector movement.
