Injectors and lift pumps?

I know this may have been asked before but after hours of reading past post about injectors and about lift pump problems I'm still not sure of the answer to my question. Here goes:



If I install bigger injectors ( maybe DDII's or 275's ) will it lead to early failure of my lift pump? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge yet ( on backorder at Geno's)

so I don't know how much pressure I have at the moment. If pressures are good then I really don't want to do anything that might shorten the life of the pump. On the other hand I have gotten a real bad case of the seemingly incurrable virus know as BOMBaritus Some of the good doctors at the TDR Clinic prescribed an Edge EZ and it seemed to help for a month or so but my symptoms are coming back.

If you are uneasy at all about your lift pump, install a pressure gauge on it and keep tabs on pressure.





Injectors will not lower Fuel pressure over stock... Injectors do not effect Injector pump duty cycle. If you install a fueling box... then you affect injector pump duty cycle and fuel pressure at the Injector pump will be lower than stock with the box turned on.

kslayton... I don't know if anyone can answer your question. I have heard of lift pumps failing on totally stock trucks... The problem is, a poor design, but of course the manufacture won't admit it. Adding injectors, fueling boxes may agrivate a poor performing lift pump because of the increased demand for fuel. What is expensive is the injector pump. . If the lift pump fails, the injector pump will fail soon. . The problem is, sometimes when the lift pump fails you don't know it... The best method, is to get a fuel pressure gauage and monitor your fuel pressure. As you add injectors, fueling boxes you will notice a drop in fuel pressure. . This is not all bad, as long as you have postive pressure at WOT. Sudden changes in your fuel pressures will indicate possiible lift pump failure, dirty filter etc. The fuel gauage is another tool so you can take some corrective action before you do damage to the injection pump.

I see absolutely no way bigger injectors can cause lift pump problems.



Injection pump maybe, don't know maybe, but if I was a betting man I would say the bigger injectors would also be easier on the injection pump, do not know for sure, but there is no way bigger injectors will cause the lift pump to die, maybe even help it live longer due to less pressure stress on the lift pump, and that would be so minimual that it would be hard to prove.

What are the differences of HP gains between 275's , DDI's , & DDII's? I want more power but would like to keep my stock clutch as long as possible. My truck is used 75% of the time empty on the highway and 25% pulling a Stock trailer or flatbed loaded with hay or tractor. Any input will be appreciated.
