Tonight I decided it was THE time to do it. tore into it and less than three hours later, I was clean and in the house. I will bleed the fuel lines in the morning so I don't wake up the entire neighborhood.

I am amazed my truck was even running with the old injectors. On a couple of them I could not see a single fuel port. On most of the rest I could see one port and on the last one I could actually see 2. :--) Perhaps this is why I have not been getting even a hint of smoke at WOT and only hitting 925*F and 17# boost. I suspect tomorrow those numbers will change drastically. No I have to get the pump turned up and timed.

Hmmm, maybe I need a transmission to handle this now ... :D

WELL????? Come on Carl, its 9:30 Saturday morning. You must have the truck running by now. How much better is it? I can hardly wait to hear your comments.

Stan

8am this morning the linew were bled. It ran rough for about 15 seconds then settled down into that gentle smooth purr our beloved 1st gens make.

Took her out for a quick spin aorund the neighborhood. Hit 18 pounds of boost on just one of my little stoplight to stop light romps. :--) I've never gotten 18lbs of boost out of this thing before. The acceleration was like I have never had out of this truck.

Took the family down to the zoo so I have not had a chance to do any more testing. Of course, on the way home the wife asked "So, are you going to work on your truck some more this afternoon?" :D :D

I am indeed envious of you guys with the really BOMBed rigs. I do love where mine is getting though. More to come after a little pump tweaking!

Carl

Did a little tweaking on the pump this afternoon after the family outing. smoke screw, turned the fuel pin, starwheel ... the usual. I'm now hitting 20psi in town without too much difficulty. Gonna get out tomowwor and really try it out! I love bOMBing these trucks! Why did it take me so long?

I'm in the middle of some turbo work. When that is done tomorrow, I'll tweak the pump some more. Want to look at the cone to see which way it's turned and try turning up the full load fuel screw a little more. I've been getting about 24 pounds boost, want to get to 30 or so.

Carl, all the trucks start at the same place. The ones before you have set a target if you want to go that high! I'll be happy with 30# boost (at least for now:D )

Stan

Hey Bob!

These things are great (at least in comparision to my old plugged injectors). :D I cannot believe the difference they have made. It is like I am driving a new truck.

With my truck set up as it is now (smoke screw 2 turns, diaphragm turned 90*, and starwheel backed out 1/4 turn, no adjustment to full power screw yet and timing still set at factory settings), it accelerates quickly. I even had a big rig driver comment on how good my truck sounded. On a 1 1/2 mile long 7% grade, I am pulling 22psi and 1100*. She smokes a litle at full throttle but that is it. There is minimal hazing. I think it is running great (and that is what counts). I have never ridden in any one elses BOMBed rig to compare against.

Of course, now I am wondering about the transmission.

All in all I rate it a success!
