Has anyone had an injector upgrade done by a dealer service department?

If so how are they performing? Any EGT issues?

Larry Miller Dodge in the west valley of Phoenix is offering an injector upgrade

that claims about 60 HP and 160 Ft Lb increase on an 03 So.

The printed flyer they gave me has their name on it and claims the upgrade will not void the warranty. Also shows a dino graph for the 03 SO.

An important question is who made the injectors. There is no Bosch upgrade injector, so they would be aftermarket nozzles. Don't believe their claim about warranty--DC won't support that, if they can tell there was a change.

Any dealor that installs anything should stand behind their work. Of course, if you take it to another dealor, they may void your warranty.

The service rep said they are reworked stock injectors.

I have not pursued it any farther to find out how they are modified.

I talked to one person via E-mail who has them in an 04 but he does

not have any gauges to see what the EGT`s are doing.

It's like $650 or so for an EZ that will give you the same power, with less *chance* of warrenty voiding.

How much is it for a complete injector purchase and install?

Wow! That's allot of coin for 60hp! I bought a set of 80hp injectors from Jannetty Racing for $700. They aren't that hard to install if you are good with a wrench. I think it is a 4-5 hour job, according to the book. Say, $300 to install a set? Heck, for $1400, I can hook you up with some 140hp injectors, let me know. :D

Anybody know if adding injectors would have any effect on whether You will be able to pass an emmissions test? I believe, during the first 5 years, You don't have to have the test. After that, You have to test every year. I know I have to test my '91. 5, every year.

It might be easier to just remove a "box", for the test, than having to remove injectors.

Does anyone know if this is an issue? Joe F. (Buffalo)

You need an emmission test on your diesel? I never heard of that. They do that in AZ? Mine runs like a singer sewing machine, no smoke what so ever. As far as the other stuff blowing out the tail pipe, I have no idea. Interesting, but I would not hesitate having mine tested the way it sits, injectors and all. It actually runs better now after all the bombing then it did new, just puuurrrrrrssssss. Hard to tell its a diesel.

That's probably the saddest thing I've ever read!! :{ :{ :{

I don't know anything about the dealer installed injectors, but I can tell you this. My truck w/ 308,000 miles and 420 horsies will NOT NOT pass emissions here in Arizona. Smokes like a freight train rattles like a snake, and shakes like an alcoholic who hasn't had a drink in three dayz.

I hate all these tree hugging people out here, and I will not change my truck for some goofy sticker on my license plate.

Sorry, had to rant and saw this post and couldn't resist. Just failed again.

Rusty,

It's that big truck purr. Actually more like a ROAR, with the turbo singing in the background. It turns a few heads when I get on it in the hammer lane. :D

I get that "What the heck has he got under the hood?" look.
