Speaking of injectors. I recently ordered and I'm patiently waiting for my MACH 1. 5's to show up. I just installed a month back an Edge Comp and have the AFE stage 2 and 4 inch exhaust with a turbo mounted BD exhaust brake. I tow a 9500 pound RV trailer and I'm wondering if the 1. 5's were a good purchase? Too much heat? Too much smoke? If I need to lower my EGT to pull the grades, is there a bigger turbo I can use and keep the BD? How is the Dodgezilla? Thanks

Hello

I am waiting on my EDM's to come in as well, getting a little antsy actually. All I can say is that from the research I have done, you have chosen the perfect injectors for towing. I doubt that you will actually need a bigger turbo any time soon. That doesn't mean that you won't be wanting one however... . :-laf

EDM injectors

undefinedEDM Injectorsundefined Just installed Mach1. 0's in my 98. 5 with a VanAAken Plug N Power box and AFE filter and 4" exhaust. Got them from Source in Portland Or. . I couldn't believe the throttle response from the new injectors. My truck smokes a little until you get the turbo spooled up but it pulls like crazy from there on up. I was going to go with the honed injectors as they are a little cheaper but after reading and being a machinist myself the EDM injectors are the way to go. Finer spray patterns help combustion and these injectors look like they were made in an aircraft shop. I was going to entertain the Mach 1. 5's at 85 hp but live at 3500 ft and I was afraid they would smoke too much. I'm just delighted with the performance of these Mach 1. 0's. I think I'll be upgrading my computer box to an adjustable one in the near future and also a FASS system. Now pushing 90K miles and love the truck. Oo.

I'm running with Don M's mach 1. 5's. I don't think you will have any problems with the possible exception of your clutch. My stock clutch held the 1. 5's by themselves but with an EZ that picture changed.

Darkhorse is right, you will need a clutch soon after you put the injectors in. My stock clutch would hold DD2's (80hp) and the two lower setting on my comp but 3 hard runs on 5x5 and it was starting to slip pretty good. I tow very heavy at times and usually pull on 1x1 or 2x2 and sometimes on a hard pull it gets above 1200 degrees (This was before I put the catcher ecm in). On 5x5 I could hit 1400+ on an empty run at the high end of 6th gear. 1. 5's should run a little cooler and should be a very usable injector with the box set on a lower setting, and very fun with the box turned up. Again, your stock clutch won't hold 5x5 and 1. 5's for very long if even at all.

Good advice from everybody. I think you, not your clutch, will love 1. 5's. Be prepared to spend the extra money for a DodgeZilla (DZ) tho. Turbo mounted exhaust brakes do provide some restriction and you will need to flow more air. IMHO, when towing one should not run less than a 14 wastegated housing. Helps immensley. You might try just putting one on your stock HX ($399 new) and that way if you decide to go the DZ route you would be almost half way there dollar wise. Contact Rip again.

Thanks for all the replies. I know a clutch is in my near future. I've been doing my research on them here and was set on a South Bend, but I have seen alot of comments good and bad about the LUK clutches.

The only thing I saw about the LUK was that they may scar the flywheel more than SBC. I'm not worried about that, my clutch is used for launch only. I am looking at the EDM 1. 5's for my truck and have been watching the clutch threads for a while. I know all the talk about the synchros, but untill I have a problem with them I will be floating all the time.

Is that true? I live at 3500 ft in the high desert and go to the 4400 ft level in the mountains around here. Will that alitude affect the performance? I always thought is was more like 6000 ft and above.

I just got back from a 500 mile trip towing about 8500lbs and I can't say more about the EDM mach 1. 5's. Going over the grapevine, in southern Ca, both times right in the heat of the day, I could hold anywhere from 60-75 mph (four wheelers were getting in my way) in sixth gear at about 1125-1175 on the pyro. Also just got back from a 6,000 mile excrsion to New York last weekend. Loved the injectors on that trip! (Lotsa smoke above 7000'!!!!!!)
