Has anyone actually used the 6"-# wrench to adjust valves?

I currently have an EZ I want to go to the comp and DD3's. I am not out to hot rod (at least not to much) but I do tow a 5th wheel. I can only buy one right now and want to be able to use the full capabilities for towing. My questions are.

With the Comp and DD3's will I be able to tow on 5x5 and keep the EGT's down.

With only the Comp can I tow on 5X5 and keep the EGT's down.

With only DD3's and the EZ will the EGT's stay down enough to use the full capability of all the power this generates.

I am going on a trip in a couple of weeks and I want to get the most bang for the buck.

DDIII's and comp on 5x5... ... . NO, egt's will be through the roof, and you'll smoke like freight train.

DDIII's and EZ... ... yes, execpt on long hills, you may havta back off the throttle, I have this combo and it's fine fer towin', I just leave the Comp box off, or on 1 (I have the PM Comp)

For towing purposes, might want consider DD2's. I think DD3's might be bit too much unless you went to a bigger turbo.

My 2 cents worth...

You will be able to use more of the power available with the injectors than you would be able to with the wire tap box. You will be able to use all of the power of the DD3's in all but a few scenarios. Wire tap box on higher levels=high EGT unless you go to an aftermarket turbo, exhuast and cold air induction system. The wire tap box is for hotroding unless you do all the other mods you need to be able to tow with it. On an otherwise stock truck 5x5 is very very hot, with DD3's and the comp on 5x5 it will be just short of nuclear on an otherwise stock truck. VERY few people can tow with a wire tap box above mid levels.

Buy the injectors.

Wolf gang, id go with dd2's instead of 3's. You arent out to hotrod but you want a comp, and dd3's?Anyone who has that much HP is a hotrodder,it cannot be used for towing unless you go with a huge turbo,4",and a cold air intake. I would just use level 1 on the comp, and dd2's for towing. Any more and the EGT's will be high, and it cant be any good for the trans. Id rather have my foot further down, which keeps line pressures high, than tow with comp on level 5,with hardly any pedal, this confuses the trans, and pcm. Now you also have lower line pressures, and more torque,a recipe for a short lived trans. Since you have a DTT setup, call Bill K,and get his recommendation, before you tow on level 5 on comp with dd3s'.

Called Piers Diesel today and they are recommending that I go with a comp DD2's and an HX35 with a 14cm housing. Al there tells me this will lower EGT's by approximately 250 degrees. I will probably go with this setup and keep my eyes on the EGT's. Looks like dd2's first then comp then hx35. This bug is catching. Is there a shot for the bombing virus?
