I bought my truck about 2 months ago and would like to know if anyone would advise putting injectors in without a computer upgrade? If so, what size would you recommend? I am not looking for a whole lot more power. If a computer should come before injectors, are there any problems with leaving the injector pump wire off? A 4" exhaust will be on the truck before I do any other mods. Any sugestions are aprieciated.

:D I put an EZ on mine and it is really nice. Lots of power and it takes 10 minutes to install. I would do that first. Get a good set of gages for boost and exhaust temp while your at it. They are mandatory even if you get a set of injectors. You want to be able to see what is going on. :D :D

Timing is the difference.......

The boxes adjust the timing. That alone is a huge power gain. There are several versions of boxes and not all pierce the injection pump wire. That's the route I would take.

I would highly recommend gauges for any mods though. Besides being a good diagnostic tool they're fun to watch. :D

If you go to injectors afterwards you might need to upgrade the clutch.

You got the bite, the BOMB bite....

First off, welcome.

Next what are you useing your truck for? Towing? Driving down 6th picking up chicks?

I have a 2001 auto and have a PE COMP box and have chose NOT to connect the pump wire yet. I will get injectors after I get GAUGES, and an auto transmission upgrade.

My recomendations????

If your going to be towing much the get an Edge Comp, and a set of stage 2 injectors. There are several different brands of injectors, and don't ask which once or you'll start a HUGE thread about "these are better because blah blah blah. "

This is a good set up for what ever you are going to be doing, you can set it in the middle of the box's settings for towing, and turn it up to show off.

Another thing you'll what to think about is adding a pusher pump.

Most of us here think that gauges are VERY important, so just more to think about.

Most of all, have fun!!! You bought a big, expensive truck, enjoy it!!!

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll be buying a computer.

TxDieselKid- I think most chicks on 6th street are looking for someone with a 100 hp rice rocket with glass packs and a 6" chrome tip. But ya never know.

The timing change with an EZ boz or a DD TTPM will net about a 10-15 HP gain. Change the seetings on the box to gain some more, up to about 60 HP. If I were you, I'd go with a PE EZ and a set of DD Stage 1's. That'll give you about 70-85 extra HP at the wheels. :D Having the POWER is very addictive, so watch out for the BOMB bug. I got it big time!

Just adding injectors you wont see that much difference if any. The computer only allows so much fuel to the motor. To utilize the injectors your going to need to increase the amount of fuel going to them, do this by installing a box. My suggestion is add a small box. If your not happy with the increase you could always upgrade your box or add injectors.

That statement just isn't true

Evan Beck added DD3's and a boost module to his ETH/DEE and dynoed at

350HP WITH NO FUELING BOX!!!!!!!!

That's right Bob, I picked up 116HP with JUST injectors, NO BOX installed. I have an EZ on my truck now, and it feels like I gained 50-60 HP above my 350 with just injectors. Stock turbo still.

Whatch out for the BOMB bug... . when I started I was just going for a bit more power... now look at my signature and my empty wallet.

By the way. . any one want to take a guess at my HP level. We have no dyno in AK.

Just to let everyone know, I was at TST yesterday and had my truck dyno'd as a stock truck. we saw 192 hp at the wheels and 420 Torque at the wheels. We then Dyno'd the truck with my PM2 and got 242 horsepwer and 667 Torque. We then disconnected the PM2 and installed the 275 HP injectors. Horsepower went to 240 from 192 and Torque went to 511 from 420. That was Just injectors. . They refused to dyno the truck with injectors and the new pm3 that they installed as concerns for the clutch were in order. Once on the highway, I set the box to pm2 level and that with injectors is Baad! Thrust was great at 75 miles an hr, But... So was EGT. A clutch is coming very soon!

If anyone wants dyno pics, let me know.

Tony ... Searching for 12's

First of all, thanks to WeirCummin. Right now I have a loaned Edge EZ on the truck, but I'm going to have buy my own sometime soon. It's the power I'm looking for without any permanent mods I can't take off for a trip to the dealer.

TDR is great! So much information and nice people.

Oh yeah, WeirCummin let me take his truck for a spin. I have one word to describe it, baaaaad! Thanks again Dean.

E7mack96: 192hp w/ETH??

Tony,

Correct me if I am wrong, but that seems low for a stock ETH 6spd! That's a power loss of almost 22% with the 6spd. I could understand if you had an auto... . I have heard of other stock 6spd ETH's dynoing in the 230's.

Anyone want to back me up on this?

Actually, Mark said it was good for the ones hes' seen. Just 5 hp lower than the best one so far. the figures were at the wheels, not flywheel. I was hoping for beeter results on the stock setup, but seems to be the norm. These were on a Mustang dyno. if that makes a difference

Tony,

Not to make you feel bad, but @ BD Dyno Days last month there was a bone stock ETH 6spd that dynoed @ 244 I believe. (Eric Wagener's truck) This was also on a Mustang dyno. I am kinda surprised that they told you that was a normal run..... Maybe I've just seen a few "high" stock dyno readings.

Don't base everything on one dyno run. To many factors. You never stated how it was dynoed or in what gear? Etc..... alot depends on how the dyno is ran.
