DD1s are somewhat stronger than 275 Bosch RV injectors. You can put them in with no boost module. With DD2 or DD3 you need the boost module, but you won't touch the injection pump harness. The 2s and 3s are much stronger, I think the DD3s are around 110 hp over stock.

If you go to aftermarket injectors (extrude honed), quality control and procedures are critical. This honing process has been criticized by some and many have expressed concern or questions, based on some poor results. It turns out that the poor results are usually a function of one or more of the following: using used injectors or recon injectors; using the wrong base injectors for the application; rudimentary honing steps or media selection; inadequate inspection, testing and quality control of materials and procedures; poor or no pop testing before and after; failure to control hone pressures or volumes/times adequately; failure to verify exactly correct spray angles and patterns before and after honing.

I was given a tour by Lawrence (Diesel Dynamics) recently and he explained his procedures and quality control to me. I learned two things (1) I would not get generic extrude honed injectors or shop for cheapest price = least amount of senior level labor invested; (2) I had to have a set of his Super Mental Stage 6 injectors for my poor old Sickly Ram. Sickly runs noticeably smoother and is more responsive with DD6's #ad

Just my opinion; hope the info helps you decide on the upgrades for your Ram.

You hit the nail on the head with the used/recon injectors. I remember this time last year warning people about buying cheap 275 injectors. Some people had them 4 sale at $35 a piece! New ones from Bosch cost a dealer a little over $40. Price doese dictate in some cases, this is one of them.

One more thing I saw on here was 20% loss through the drivetrane.

The general rule of thumb agreed upon by the all the sanctioning bodies that have any regulatory powers say this:

Whatever the ENGINE rated HP is, subtract 25% for rear wheel numbers. They also say for every 1000 feet above sea level you go to subtract 3%, and for every 10 degrees the intake air is over 60 degrees you need to subtract 1%.
Hope this helps.
