I'd like to install injector's in my truck and I'm thinking of going with the Mach 1. 6's! I'm still very new to what's good in the injector market! From what I've been reading these would be good for keeping egt's low and giving me around 90 hp! Also I was talking to a guy that run's a diesel performance shop on the side and he said he could get me some nozzles for around $300! What are the pro's and con's with nozzles? Should I stick with the Mach's or go for nozzles at half the price! I am keeping my stock turbo since money is a little tight, so 80-100 horse is what I want without to much stress on my turbo as in heat issues. I also plan on larger exhaust and maybe an AFE drop in filter! Any suggestion's would be greatly appreciated. I am leary of nozzles, should I be! Thank's

There are some good nozzles on the market but the installation is trickier. Formula 1's Mach series are probably the best you can get. The 1. 6's are a great choice but the 4's are better if you really want power. Any way you go you should get a set of guages first. egt, boost & fuel pressure.

Beach, I posted a similar question not long ago, see which injectors to buy, too many choices and got a very wide range of responses. My suggestion it to definately get all the guages first, then drive someone's truck that has similar modifications you are thinking about. I'v gone from wanting injectors to now thinking about a box first. Again, there are many schools thought about all of it. Good luck.

My TST PM3 box has the controller w/ boost, pyrometer and trans. temp, so I'm good there. Actually, before I buy injector's, or nozzle's, I plan on a fuel pressure guage and larger exhaust. My egt's skyrocket at wot when the box is on 9. I can easily hit 1300. I figured the stock exhaust is not helping, plus the stock air cleaner minus the boot to the fender. Thank's for the responces, and any more suggestion's are more than welcome! I want to do it right, but not overkill! If you can over bomb a truck! :-laf Oo.

Beach,

With my set up (see sig) I can "easilly" bury the 1500* egt  gage with the comp on 3-5 or up. It takes an open eye and easy foot to keep things in check, and this is empty bed no trailer. I'm thinking about 4's and an htb2/12, but like you $$$ is tight and I'm holding off - a while - or may just change my mind and leave well enough alone . . . HA!

So, it's good that you have gages and I see you have the trans situation covered - from this point on it's all about the $$$ and what you want to do. This is the part that sucks if you aren't bleeding green :{

I must have a light foot  Even with my Mach 3. 8's & the APB turned up 1/2 way the highest temps I've seen are a shade over 1300. Granted I rarely use more than 2/3 throttle as things just happen to fast & before things get to hot, I'm either running out of road or reaching for the next gear. Now when I'm towing I have horses in the trailer & more interested in giving them a smooth ride than passing powerjokes on a hill. :-laf

So far what I have gotten out of reading other people's post's from doing a search on injector's, and from what you guy's are saying is that the Mach's would be my best bet! It seem's like the nozzles are cheaper but don't help to much w/ egt's correct? I think I might just go with the 1. 6's and be done with it! I think when you buy them, they ask for the stock one's as a core. I take it the one's I'll get are stock injector's redone, or bored- honed out to what I want, or are they new? Either way I'm sure they are better than nozzle's. I don't want the down time of pulling the injector's, swapping nozzles, pop testing then reinstall. I want to open the box swap them in and go play! :D What are the 4's rated for as in hp, and do the run hotter, or will I be happier w/ the1. 6's. This truck is more of a back and forth to work, play truck that tow's once in a while! O. K. now I'm rambling, thank's guy's! :-laf

There is a big diffenece in the two: Mach 1. 6 90 HP An upgraded version of the older Mach 1. 5's. A few more HP and no additional cost. A slight change in spraying angles netted NO additional smoke with the extra HP. This is the best choice for increased fuel economy using a single turbocharger. Towing Injectors

Mach 4 150HP At 150 HP, the Mach 4 using a specially designed nozzle for maximum HP development, smoke control, and good driving manners is finally here. The Mach 4's will outpower and drive better than other 150 HP injector available for our engines, bar none! This injector is best used by experienced HP junkies and racers. The nozzles use a steel alloy that is designed to withstand the high cylinder pressures and temperatures associated with racing conditions. Nitrous Oxide users will have a margin of safety never before available in a stock honed injector... . directly from the web site

The best of the nozzles are good but for quick & easy the complete injector is hard to beat. The Mach series are EDM or electro discharge machined. That makes for a much cleaner hole than extrude honing. The Mach 4's are rated at 150 hp. Since you are not towing heavy they would probably work fine for you. Improving your air flow with a high capacity air cleaner & a 4" exhaust would also be advisable. A little porting on your exhaust manifold & turbine housing also helps spool & egt. I did mine with a Dremel.

Hey guy's, I really appreciate the help on this. I dont have head stud's(yet), so I think the 1. 6's will do. Is there a 100 hp injector. I'd like to get close or above 400hp safely! :D I dynoed at ATS in Col. and got 318hp w/ 718tq. So now that I'm addicted, I'm getting my fixes slowly and hopefully safely. ;) :-laf I think I'll pass on the 4's, even though 150 more would be sweet! Maybe next year I do head stud's and a turbo! What's next, rehab!

I don't think head studs are needed for the 4's I'm running the higher compression HO with 3. 8's & a tapped pump wire with no problems.

Mach 2's are rated for 105 hp. Im not sure if there is something in the middle thats right at 100 ?

Special order custom sizes are available if you have time to wait for them. Give one of Don's vendors a call.

Are the Mach 2's egt friendly! That would work! Who sell's these at a good price and is there a website/ phone # so I can talk to someone who make's them?

O. K. , now I did a search and found that some guy's get a bad shudder or stumble w/ big injector's and a timing box! Will this be an issue w/ the TST box! I'm really thinking about the Mach 4's now over 1. 6's, but don't want to open up a can of worm's by going too big, especially w/ the stock turbo! I know I should just call and talk to who sell's them, but is this a big issue to be concerned with!?

Beach,

When I was at the point where I had questions that required Q & A on the phone I called Rip Rook @ Source Automotive. He was straight up, knowledgeable and wasn't pushy - not a "salesman". Very easy going and will steer you straight - even if you don't buy from him.

He's listed on the F-1 contacts page and has a toll free# to boot.
