Here's what I have found... very little difference. Most of my driving is in town, never see 6th gear except on the rare occasion that I leave town. Most of the time I am either climbing a hill or going down one. I track my mileage with every fill up, since day one, the results are as follows.
Brand new, no BOMB's- varied between 13-14 MPG in town
Added the Edge EZ, same results.
Added the BD step 3 injectors,HX40,4" pipe, Scotty air system, same results.
Added the BD step 5 showerheads, same results.
My best mileage to date is 18. 5, but I haven't taken a long highway trip yet, and only have 9000 miles on the truck. I thought that my in town mileage would surely go down with the 5's, as I now shift at higher RPM's to keep the soot level down, MPG is still the same. I also add Stanadyne PF at every fill up. I started doing this at about 2000 miles, never found any MPG gain but add it just the same as I believe it sure isn't hurting anything. I used to tell myself, 'self, this tank full I will drive conservativley' and see if the mileage goes up. That always seem to last for about the first 50 miles, then I'm back at it, building 40 psi's of boost and having fun
